Earlier in the week, Capcom held a Monster Hunter digital live event where it discussed both Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Monster Hunter Rise. During the discussion on Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom shared that like many games before it, event quests would be added to the game shortly.

When the 2.0 title update dropped, no event quests were available. However, on April 30th in Japan, one of the event quests dropped. It was released to fairly little fanfare, but players would be notified of its existence when booting up the game.

The quest, entitled "Out of Sight, Out of Mind's Eye," tasks hunters to take down a high-rank Tetrandon in the Lava Caverns. Not much is unusual about this fight besides the quest being rated at a 6-star difficulty instead of Tetrandon's usual 4-star difficulty. The hunt taking place in Lava Caverns is also a bit unique as Tetrandon is usually not fought there.

When players complete the quest they will be awarded with a new gesture called the ninjutsu gesture. It's not a special armor or weapon, but it is something for fans who like the game's gestures or just want something else to unlock.

The second event quest was just recently announced on the Japanese Monster Hunter Rise site and twitter. The Japanese quest name is known as "Kage no Jinryu," but the English name for the event quest has not been announced yet. Regardless, this quest has yet to be released, but will be available on May 7th, 2021.

The second event quests asks players to hunt a Nargacuga in the Shrine Ruins. On paper, there is nothing unusual about this quest either, as Nargacuga can typically be found in the Shrine Ruins. There's no information on the star ranking of the quest, however, so that could be higher than normal like "Out of Sight, Out of Mind's Eye." There could also be something left as a surprise in the quest.

Regardless, once players complete it, they will unlock a series of stamps that they can use when communicating with other hunters. Like the ninjutsu reward from the first quest, the reward, unfortunately, isn't additional weapons and armor, but with Monster Hunter's strong online focus, these new stamps could be a fun addition for hunters who like to complete their hunts with others.

Notably, however, the release of the second event quest is a week after the first one, hinting that perhaps Capcom intends to release one event quest a week. Time will tell if this is the case, and if it is, how long the pattern will continue.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC release is slated for 2022.
