Monster Hunter Rise is launching for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021, and early 2022 for PC players. Like most games in the Monster Hunter series, Rise supports up to four-player cooperative multiplayer on the Switch, and players can also go at it alone if they don't want to play with others. However, some players are wondering if Monster Hunter Rise will have crossplay at all --here's the answer to that.

To be the bearer of bad news, as for now, it seems that Monster Hunter Rise won't support crossplay between Switch and PC players. Capcom has yet to say much about the upcoming PC port, besides the fact that it's coming, and the company has not supported that functionality in the past for older Monster Hunter games that have come to PC, such as Monster Hunter: World and Iceborne.

Updated September 30, 2021, by Greysun Morales: During Capcom's TGS 2021 Monster Hunter showcase, the company revealed that Monster Hunter Rise will be launching on PC on January 12, 2021, via Steam. The PC port will support 4K visuals and ultrawide monitors --there's also uncapped framerates, optimized mouse/keyboard controls, and high-res textures to look forward to. However, in regards to crossplay, Capcom has not said anything about it. And considering that Monster Hunter: World doesn't have crossplay, it seems unlikely for Capcom to do it for Rise. If new updates concerning crossplay come out, this article will be updated.

Capcom released World on Steam only a couple of months after the initial console release of World, and still, the title did not support crossplay between PS4, Xbox One, and PC players. If someone purchased Monster Hunter: World on PC, there's also no way to carry over saved game data from the console versions.

There could be a chance that Capcom changes its mind and decides to implement crossplay for the first time with Monster Hunter Rise, but fans will just have to wait and see what happens leading up to the eventual PC launch of the game. If Capcom does decide to add crossplay, this article will be updated with the correct information.

Is Monster Hunter Rise Compatible With Monster Hunter: World or Other Titles in the Series?

Monster Hunter Rise is a brand-new entry in Capcom's long-running action-RPG series. While it takes many elements from World and also its expansion, Iceborne, Rise is an entirely new game set in a different area, with new monsters and mechanics. It's only compatible with itself and cannot connect with other Monster Hunter games in any way.

There could be a chance that an upgraded version of Monster Hunter Rise releases on other platforms besides Switch and PC, as Capcom tends to do that with the series often, but it's unlikely that it'll happen anytime soon if it does.

Monster Hunter Rise launches for the Switch on March 26, 2021, and the PC version will come out sometime in early 2022.
