When monsters lurk in the land, it’s up to hunters to step up and take the lead in hunting them. As the Monster Hunter series proved, hunting monsters can become quite the adrenaline-pumping activity to do with friends. While Monster Hunter Rise paved the way for modern Monster Hunter action on the Nintendo Switch, players shouldn’t be reckless with their hunters as they stalk their prey in the hunt. One wrong mishap can chunk off a huge portion of a hunter’s Health, and that’s a huge no-no when facing tougher foes.

Thankfully, a multitude of healing items does exist in Monster Hunter Rise, with various mechanisms and efficacies - all designed to fit specific hunting situations. However, just which healing items should hunters bring and how do they craft them as soon as they need them?

10 Farcaster

Farcaster

In case of emergencies, sometimes retreat is the best option. Of all emergency items available, the Farcaster is easily the most reliable one, especially when players need healing in the direst of emergencies. When used, the Farcaster instantly teleports players to the nearest camp. This is usable in battles, meaning players can get a quick exit from a hunt if they’re at a disadvantage.

While retreating all the way back to camp gives monsters a head start to heal, this does give players a shot at healing as well. When used tactically, a player can head back to camp and set up traps while the rest of the team lures the monster to where the retreating player is going to be situated.

Players can create a Farcaster through crafting, courtesy of combining a Smokenut and an Exciteshroom. Likewise, they can also get the Farcaster from the Argosy for 200 points, under Trade Goods.

9 Powercharm And Armorcharm

Powercharm and Armorcharm

Sometimes, prevention is better than cure. And nothing’s better at preventing a monster from killing the hunter if the hunter gets to take them down first. In line with this are the Powercharm and Armorcharm, essentially amulets that boost the hunter’s overall Attack and Defense ratings by simply carrying them. In the case of the Armorcharm, it boosts the player’s Defense stat by 12 points. Likewise, the Powercharm boosts the player’s Attack stat by 6 points.

Players can obtain the Powercharm by purchasing them from the Market, at a hefty price of 36,000z. The Armorcharm also can’t be crafted and is only purchasable for a price of 24,000z from the Merchant. They are only available from Kagero the Merchant once players reach HR6.

8 Powertalon And Armortalon

Powertalon and Armortalon

Sometimes improved prevention is better than any type of cure. Such is the nature of Powertalon and Armortalon, essentially charms that provide a myriad of benefits to the hunter. When worn, the Powertalon gives a 9-point Attack Stat boost whenever they carry them around. Likewise, the Armortalon provides a whopping 18-point Defense buff just by carrying it. Two of the same items don’t stack, but a Powertalon and Armortalon can work with a Powercharm and Armorcharm.

Players can craft the Armortalon through a combination of the Armorcharm and Ibushi Claw+. Likewise, players can get a Powertalon by combining an existing Powercharm with an Ibushi Claw+.

7 Potion

Potion

Any fantasy game needs to have an item that does healing, and that’s the Potion for the Monster Hunter franchise. At its core, the Potion heals for a small amount, making it a perfect middle-ground for emergency big heals and retreating to base camp. Players shouldn’t underestimate the potion, though, as that small heal can mean the difference between defeating a monster or losing the hunt entirely.

Players can get Potions via crafting quite easily, as they only need Herb to craft Potions. They can also buy this from the Market at a relatively low price of 66z.

6 Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine

Poison is a pesky enemy in Monster Hunter, and the fragile nature of hunters means getting poisoned can spell the difference between life and death. Thankfully, Herbal Medicine can heal poison completely, as well as heal for a small amount of health. Regardless of the small healing it provides, the priority here is to get poison off any hunter’s system - and poison is a much trickier status to deal with than just losing health, which could easily be healed with a Potion.

Players can get Herbal Medicine by combining an Antidote and Blue Mushroom. Outside crafting, players can get Herbal Medicine by buying it from the Argosy for 300 points, under Trade Goods.

5 Lifepowder

Lifepowder

Hunters in need of a quick heal for the entire squad can look no further than the Lifepowder for quick assistance. When activated, the Lifepowder releases a powder that heals them and their allies - perfect when retreating from a foe but still needing to be in the area. Players who just can’t miss an opponent can use the Lifepowder to heal the whole squad and still patrol the area without losing their prey.

Players can craft for Lifepowder by combining Godbug with Blue Mushroom, but they can also obtain Lifepowder through the Argosy for 600 points, under Trade Goods.

4 Dust Of Life

Dust of Life

Support hunters who want to focus on defending their teammates might want to share a bit of healing with them, and that’s Dust of Life doing its job. When activated, the Dust of Life releases a cloud that heals a large amount for both the user and everyone nearby. Squads in need of quick emergency heals in dire situations can definitely use Dust of Life as a life-saver.

Players can obtain Dust of Life through crafting, combining a Godbug with Gloamgrass Bud. Unfortunately, players can’t get Dust of Life in any stores.

3 Max Potion

Max Potion

As the name implies, Max Potion restores the hunter’s full health, which is a life-saver when facing multiple threats or extended incursions. Given its rarity, players shouldn’t use the Max Potion willy-nilly, and instead reserve it for critical situations such as when they’re very close to getting knocked down.

Players can get the Max Potion through crafting, courtesy of a combination of the Catalyst and the Mandragora. There aren’t any other methods of obtaining the Max Potion outside crafting.

2 Ancient Potion

Ancient Potion

Hunters in need of dire assistance in the middle of combat can rely on Ancient Potion to get them battle-ready in no time. With the right timing, the Ancient Potion can fully restore their health and stamina, which works great with buffs that max out available health and stamina for players. Of course, players need to be wary as they can’t become too over-dependent on the Ancient Potion. If possible, players should use the Ancient Potion in critical situations only.

Players can only obtain Ancient Potions through crafting, courtesy of combining an Immunizer and Kelbi Horn. There aren’t other ways of obtaining Ancient Potions outside crafting, except perhaps through several quests like Challenge Quest 02 (HR 6), Challenge Quest 03 (HR 7), and Challenge Quest 04 (HR 7).

1 Mega Potion

Mega Potion

Players who need a bit of a health boost in the middle of combat can rely on the Mega Potion for that healthy dose of moderate health healing. Despite its rarity, the Mega Potion remains a decent companion in most hunts, as it can become one of the many tools players could use for efficient healing. Unlike the riskier full heals of the Max Potion and the Ancient Potion, the Mega Potion remains a safe neutral choice of a healing implement.

Players can obtain a Mega Potion through crafting, courtesy of combining a Potion and Honey. Unfortunately, there aren’t other ways to obtain the Mega Potion outside crafting.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC.
