In Monster Hunter Rise, players will venture into some amazing environments in search of the majestic creatures that call those places home. There are five different hunting locales in Monster Hunter Rise, and each one is a vast area full of hidden nooks to explore and varied topography that adds a ton of verticality to the adventure. The sheer breadth of these locales calls for a fast travel feature, and that's where sub-camps come in.

At the start of a quest, players will begin the hunt at an area's main camp. From the main camp, it's possible to grab extra hunting supplies or use the tent to swap out item and equipment loadouts. The hidden sub-camps don't provide a supply box in the same way the main camp does, but they do allow for other preparation options and make perfect fast travel points.

With the near-instant load times of Monster Hunter Rise, these fast travel nodes are extremely useful. To fully unlock a sub-camp for use, it must be discovered by the hunter during a quest and then an additional Request must be completed after speaking with Kagero in Kamura Village.

Shrine Ruins Sub-Camp Location

There is one sub-camp in the Shrine Ruins locale. It's located atop a rock spire between areas 10 and 12. From the swampy mire of area 10, which players might be familiar with as a regular stomping grounds for Almudron or Magnamalo, it's a simple matter of using Wirebug traversal to climb over the rocky outcroppings up to this convenient sub-camp.

After reporting the location to Kagero in Kamura Village, hunters will need to complete a Request to ensure that the area is safe enough to set up camp. In this case of Shrine Ruins Sub-Camp 1, the Request entails slaying 8 Izuchi. These are just the small monster variants of Great Izuchi, so it'll be a simple task. The quickest ways to accomplish the objective are to set out on a Shrine Ruins Expedition and hunt them down at one's own leisure, or accept the Village 1-star quest "Help With Maintenance" which coincidentally calls for 8 Izuchi to be slain.

Frost Islands Sub-Camp Locations

The Frost Islands is complex enough to warrant two sub-camp locations. One is situated on the western half of the map, nestled in a rock formation between areas 6 and 7. Players who are having trouble finding this sub-camp should climb the rocks jutting from the frost and then drop down into the watery campsite. The other sub-camp is between areas 8 and 10. Finding this camp is simple - players can just make their way to the highest point between the two aforementioned areas.

Kagero's Request for clearing the area for this sub-camp entails slaying 8 Zamite. These shark-like creatures come in various sizes. Some are very small, and some are so big that they don't seem to even be the same species. Zamite can be a bit tricky to track down, but one surefire way to find them is to take on the Hub 1-star quest "Hot Topic Hooligans." The quest objective is to slay 20 Zamite or Bnahabra, and it will mark the required creatures on the minimap for easy hunting.

How to Unlock Frost Islands Sub-Camp 2

The second sub-camp in the Frost Islands has a different kind of unlock requirement. Rather than asking the hunter to slay creatures, Kagero requests materials to be delivered. The player will need to harvest 2 Warm Pelts from some Kelbi, and 4 Monster Bone S. The latter is a common material that can be picked up from bonepiles all across various hunting locales.

Sandy Plains Sub-Camp Locations

The Sandy Plains also contains two sub-camp locations. The first is located in the southwest, between areas 2 and 7. Looking north from area 2, it would be hard to miss the eroded ruins where this camp can be found. The second camp is far to the northeast, directly east of area 8. The best way to get eyes on this well-hidden campsite is to climb atop the rocky peaks nearby and look for the oasis nestled in a clearing below.

The Request that Kagero makes of the hunter in order to unlock this sub-camp is to slay 8 Kestodon. As usual, there is a particular slaying quest that players can take on that will show the exact spawn points of the necessary monsters on the map. This time around, it's the Hub 2-star quest "Dawn of the Kestodon."

The requirement for unlocking this sub-camp is a material delivery Request. Kagero asks for a Lagombi Pelt and 2 Monster Bone M. While it's obvious that the hunter will need to defeat a Lagombi for a chance at the first material, the second item can be a bit more elusive. Several monsters have a chance at yielding Monster Bone M, but the best source would be the Rhenoplos that are found across the Sandy Plains.

Flooded Forest Sub-Camp Location

The Flooded Forest locale only has one sub-camp that players need to worry about finding. It is located near area 11 and to the west of area 6. Hunters who make their way to the location marked on the map above will find a tall, foliage-covered rock spire. Climbing all the way to the top will reveal the hidden sub-camp location, within a natural dome-shaped structure.

Players who have unlocked several sub-camps already will be familiar with the process of slaying 8 specified creatures to fulfill Kagero's requests. For the Flooded Forest sub-camp, 8 Wroggi must be put to the sword for the area to be deemed safe enough for the fast travel point to be unlocked. This can be done at the player's own convenience during other quests or Expeditions, or during the Hub 5-star quest "Flooded Forest Fiasco" which will mark Wroggi and Ludroth on the minimap to be found quite easily.

Lava Caverns Sub-Camp Locations

Two sub-camps are waiting to be found in the Lava Caverns. The first campsite is on the eastern side of the map. This location is the highest point that players can access on the volcano, and it might require some clever use of Great Wirebug nodes in order to cross the intimidating lava streams. The second is to the west, near a broken bridge. This site can be easily found by heading north from the main camp and climbing over some terrain, as long as the player doesn't make a misstep and plummet into the subterranean caverns below.

This is the final slay Request that players will have to complete for unlocking sub-camps. Uroktor are creatures that thrive in the subterranean areas of the Lava Caverns, but only in zones filled with magma. Areas 13 and 14 are the places to be, or players can take on the Hub 6-star quest "The Lava Caverns Sweep."

How to Unlock Lava Caverns Sub-Camp 2

The last sub-camp is unlocked through a materials delivery request. For this one, Kagero wants 1 Tetranadon Hide and 2 Monster Bone L. After slaying a Tetranadon for its hide, hunters will need to defeat various other large monsters for their bones. Rathian, Pukei-Pukei, and Somnacanth are among the creatures that yield this material.

With all sub-camps unlocked and available for access, players will earn the Beat-up Construction Kit award to be displayed on their guild cards. More importantly, having so many fast travel points to use will be an incredible boon on hunts. Experienced hunters know that some monsters tend to flee great distances when wounded, but they won't escape for long with this fast travel method in place.
