Capcom's latest foray into the Monster Hunter series with Monster Hunter Rise has seen great success, quickly becoming one of the developer's best-selling games this year, as well as one of the best-selling Switch titles this year. Adding new features like the Palamute buddies, Wirebugs, and all-new Rampage mode, Monster Hunter Rise is also receiving regular updates for fans to enjoy.

Last month, a Monster Hunter Digital Event introduced fans to the 2.0 update for Monster Hunter Rise, revealing the addition of the Elder Dragons Teostra and Kushala Daora to the game, as well as Layered Armor, an unlocked Hunter Rank cap, and other new features. Now, during a Monster Hunter Digital Event this morning, it was revealed that the game's 3.0 update will be adding a new Valstrax Deviant, Apex Zinogre, and more.

The trailer opened with the introduction of Crimson Glow Valstrax, a returning Elder Dragon with a new form as well as new attacks. The Monster Hunter Rise 3.0 trailer also revealed the return of Apex Zinogre, which will appear in both Rampage Quests and standard Quests. A new ending to the game's story was teased as well, with a foreshadowing of what may be to come for Kamura Village.

The new update is scheduled for release on May 27, but players in the west will have access to it starting later tonight.

Valstrax was originally introduced in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate as the game's flagship monster, with the ability to dart past hunters and soar high up in the sky thanks to its jet-like wings which it can also use to attack. While Monster Hunter veterans may be familiar with the Elder Dragon, Crimson Glow Valstrax is said to have new attacks to keep players on their toes. Apex Zinogre first appeared in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but returns with a new appearance, being covered in golden lightning this time.

Monster Hunter Rise players may know that the game's story was left unresolved, so a new ending is being added to the game in the 3.0 update to tie everything together. In addition to new Quests, a new Boss Battle Arena, New Skills, and more, Monster Hunter Rise will receive more DLC, including all-new Hunter Voices, Layered Armor, Poses, Stickers, Hairstyles, and Cohoot Outfits.

While fans are eager to see the return of Valstrax, many are curious to know if any more surprise monsters will be secretly added to the game, as with Monster Hunter Rise's 2.0 update. Capcom also confirmed that new DLC will be regularly added to the game in the coming months, so it will be interesting to see what's in store for players next.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for Switch, with a PC release slated for 2022.
