After being a huge success on Kickstarter, Monster Crown, essentially a darker, more adult take on Nintendo's Pokemon franchise, is already pulling in huge numbers on Steam. Studio Aurum has confirmed that Monster Crown has sold more copies on Steam in its first three days in Early Access than it did in its entirety on Kickstarter. While exact numbers aren't available, to put things in better perspective, Monster Crown's Kickstarter managed to pull in 9x its funding goal.

Not only has Monster Crown been a Steam sales success, but the game has also earned high marks from the community as well. Monster Crown currently has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with fans seemingly impressed by the game's more adult twist on the Pokemon formula. Monster Crown's Jason Walsh stated that the game's success on Steam is "a dream come true."

It will be interesting to see if Monster Crown is able to keep the momentum going strong, especially as developer Studio Aurum releases new content. The Early Access version of Monster Crown only lets players play through a third of the game and explore half of the game world. In future, fans can expect the rest of the story to be added of course, along with more of the map, new features, and new monsters.

One has to wonder if Monster Crown's Steam success will see the game eventually make its way to other platforms as well. Since it' so heavily inspired by Pokemon, it would be interesting to see Monster Crown come to the Nintendo Switch at the very least.

Monster Crown is out now in Steam Early Access.
