It's easy to look at ModNation Racers and see an adorable kart racer aimed at kids. But buried beneath the of United Front Games' creative racing surface are some truly haunting tracks, and Sony has taken them time to highlight some of their favorites. Who knows, maybe after a night of trick or treating, you'll find yourself stuffing your mouth full of candy and playing some of these Halloween-themed tracks.

There are five Halloween-themed tracks for players to sink their fangs into, all of which are of course, made by the community, in line with the Race, Create, Share mantra ModNation Racers sports. Not many of the assets used in creating the tracks are from the core game, but instead came from the Haunted Props pack Sony released on the PlayStation Store. Luckily, one does not need the DLC in order to play the Halloween tracks, so those of you who have never spent a dime in the PlayStation Store will still have some great Halloween racing to look forward too.

Tracks aren't the only things players can create in ModNation Racers, there are also plenty of Mods (Racers) and Karts to choose from, all sporting some sort of Halloween decor, including a Jack-O-Lantern, a Vampire and... The Easter Bunny. OK, so maybe they all aren't Halloween-themed, but it shouldn't be too hard to find more Halloween creations in the community.

That's not all though - tonight, San Diego Studio will also have a special community gaming night with ModNation community. Between 4:30-5:30 PST, players will be able to join up for a Halloween themed racing night! For details, go to the ModNation Facebook page.

ModNation Racers isn't the only game seeing Halloween events though. Many PC games such as Killing Floor and Team Fortress 2 have Halloween events going on right now and Gears of War 3 has a special Halloween Weekend event that ends tomorrow. So forget trick or treating, let's go play some video games!

ModNation Racers is available now for the PS3.
