Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's community has the the 6th Season of the game coming soon. With each season of new content comes new guns, operators, maps, and more. The Modern Warfare season update may still be several days away, but leaked content has already been appearing.

While many fans are aware of Season 6's rumored subway station, one addition that has gone relatively under the radar is the new Sniper Rifle, the R700. The weapon  debuted in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, quickly becoming a fan-favorite weapon in that game.

The R700 rifle is expected to be a threshold unlock through the Battle Pass itself. For an exact level, fans will have to wait until Season 6 starts, but many are expecting it to appear in the early bracket based on previous battle pass weapon unlocks. As per usual, players who purchase a blueprint for locked weapons do receive a copy of the gun earlier than those who unlock it through the battle pass. Not much is known about the R700's new build, but fans are expecting to ba high-powered rifle meant to bring down infantry.

Recent leaks regarding the weapon suggest that it will be a bolt-action rifle. If this is true, then many fans are expecting it to be a one-hit kill on most enemies, depending on the accuracy and shot location. In Call of Duty, most bolt-action rifles come into the game with increased damage to offset its slow firing speed. With the originial version, the gun was a one-hit kill anywhere from the chest up on a target.

Still, a new sniper will be interesting as it will have to compete with the HDR and AX-50 sniping meta. While the stats of the R700 are unknown, fans have certain expectations based on its performance in previous games. Depending on the final balance, the weapon will likely either match the damage output of the AX-50 or exceed it by a sizable margin.

Based on the weapon's reputation and the leaked Modern Warfare performance footage, many have had their hopes up that this will be a valued addition to the game's meta. With Modern Warfare and Warzone both supporting a dedicated sniper community, a new rifle is sure to fit right into the player's expectations. More information should be available for the gun starting on Season 6's launch, which is expected on September 29th.
