With every Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season, there's always been a mid-season update that adds a bunch of new content all at once, in order to keep things fresh. While some mid-season updates arrive later than others, all of them give players new content before the next season hits. Now, it's season 4's turn, as Infinity Ward and Activision have announced that the new mid-season update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is arriving tomorrow, June 30, 2020, and it's bringing with it a slew of content.

The news comes the way of the official Call of Duty Twitter account, which unveiled the new content for the update, titled Season 4 Reloaded, in a new, updated, content roadmap.

First and foremost, players will get access to a new sniper rifle, the Rytec AMR. Gameplay of this weapon was leaked over a week ago, so it's not surprising to see it come so soon. From what players can gather, it's a semi-auto rifle with a moderate-to-high amount of recoil, similar to the Barret 50-cal from other Call of Duty games.

Beyond the new weapon, players will also get a brand new multiplayer map called Cheshire Park. According to Activision, this new map takes place in London and includes a ton of close-quarters-combat scenarios. At this point, it's unknown whether or not this qualifies as a "small" map, but at the very least it seems like it'll cater to shorter-range weapons in some areas.

Of course, players will also get a slew of new modes in both standard multiplayer and Warzone. Kicking things off is Team Defender, which Activision describes as a "twist on the traditional Capture the Flag formula." Apparently, it acts similarly to the aforementioned game mode, however, there's only one flag and players don't have to bring it back to their side of the map. Instead, each team gains points for every second they hold onto the flag.

In addition, Warzone is getting two new modes. The first is 200-player battle royale quads. This is exactly what the title sounds like, with 200 players dropping into the world and battling it out for the number 1 spot. Beyond that, players will also be able to play Juggernaut Royale. At the beginning of the match, a care package will drop randomly on the map that includes a Juggernaut suit. Once the Juggernaut has been eliminated, another suit will drop in the world and this will carry on until the end of the match.

All in all, this should easily keep Modern Warfare and Warzone players satisfied for the time being. While the start of Season 4 was a bit lackluster, to say the least, this mid-season update seems to be making up for it in more ways than one. Getting a new original multiplayer map and 200-player battle royale matches are huge additions, plus fans have been asking for a new sniper rifle since the start of the game.

It'll be interesting to see the other smaller changes too, including the long-awaited nerf to the Grau assault rifle. That should come in the patch notes released later tonight, however.
