Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is about to get a major new mode, it's just that everyone isn't supposed to know about it just yet. Warzone, Modern Warfare's mysterious battle royale mode, was confirmed via several leaks claimed to be from datamining of Modern Warfare's Season Two patch. Activision and Infinity Ward are understandably unhappy about these leaks, which should explain why one of the biggest Modern Warfare leakers just had their Twitter account suspended.

Leaker @TheGamingRevoYT, otherwise known as TheGamingRevolution on YouTube, has been extremely active over the past week. Not only have they leaked the name of Modern Warfare's battle royale mode, Warzone, but they leaked a wave of new details about the mode, too. Details like the addition of Supply Depots where players can by Killstreaks, plus an in-game currency called Plunder. The final straw, however, was the account posting actual Warzone gameplay.

The leaked gameplay, posted to TheGamingRevolution's Youtube channel, was very quickly pulled offline by an Activision copyright claim, and TheGamingRevolution's Twitter account was then suspended shortly after. Twitter doesn't supply any reasoning for its punitive actions against accounts, other than to cite that they violated the service's official rules.

The root of the issue comes down to TheGamingRevolution's sources. If the content that they had access to was found in Modern Warfare's own files, punitive actions would be absurd. However, the account apparently claimed to have access to Q&A testers working with Modern Warfare on future content. In other words, much of the leaked materials about Warzone were not publically available. It's one thing to report on leaks, but to share multimedia revealing said content is crossing a legal boundary.

For now, the account remains suspended. It doesn't appear that TheGamingRevolution has created a new account or offered a statement regarding the issue at this time. These kinds of leakers don't tend to disappear for long, however– at least, they don't until Activision lawyers catch up with them.

As for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's plans for its battle royale mode, it's difficult to make any assumptions at this time. Clearly, the development of the mode is coming along quite well. Activision likely won't want to step on the toes of Season Two's launch in Modern Warfare, though it also doesn't want to wait too long, as the new Call of Duty game will become a focus between May and June. In other words, expect official news sometime soon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
