Modern Warfare 3 NBA Trailer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is real and official and you shouldn't be surprised. After a serious leak of information, which revealed all of the multiplayer levels and the entire single player story of the game, Activision quickly launched a series of Modern Warfare 3 teasers which confirmed some of what we already knew. Surely, this wasn't their plan but they needed to act quick.

A countdown timer on the UK Amazon website pointed towards another Modern Warfare 3 reveal on Tuesday, May 24th, but was quickly taken down. Another retailer confirmed that "more intel" would be released then and now we're also hearing that on Monday night, May 23rd, a full Modern Warfare 3 trailer will play Monday night during the NBA finals.

A NeoGAF user explains that a new Modern Warfare 3 teaser trailer will air during the second half Monday's match-up, game 4 of the Oklahoma City Thunder-Dallas Mavericks game.

[Update: Activision confirmed this is true on the official Modern Warfare 3 Facebook page]

Why the NBA finals? It's currently the most watched sporting event in the U.S., more than the NHL playoffs, and it's a tradition for Activision to break major Call of Duty trailers during NBA playoff games. If you recall, last year they played the Eminem Black Ops trailer during the second half of Game 6 for the Lakers vs. Celtics.

In 2009, Modern Warfare 2 had a trailer play during the Eastern Conference Finals on May 24th which lines up exactly with Monday night's game, making this rumor very believable.

This is Activision's chance to cater to its already well-established and gigantic built-in audience. More importantly, it's their chance to start making some people forget about Battlefield 3. EA better start thinking of their major mainstream ads so they can show the world while their game is something everyone needs to consider.

The war is on. Which franchise are you going with?
