While there might be a strong population of gamers who are looking forward to logging countless hours in Modern Warfare 3’s Team Deathmatch mode, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward have put together a small collection of new modes to hopefully entice those gamers into trying something new.
To help gamers better understand the mechanics of Modern Warfare 3’s new modes, and to show off the game’s new match customization feature, Activision has released a new trailer. Though it doesn’t highlight too much about what makes each mode so unique, from experience I have to say Kill Confirmed is extremely fun.
Much like the Wager Match in Black Ops, Kill Confirmed tries to deliver a new experience for gamers, one that isn’t focused on a kill-to-death ratio. In Kill Confirmed, a kill can only be logged in the point total of your team if somebody picks up the dog tag of the fallen opponent. If an enemy teammate picks up that dog tag, the point/kill is lost.
This new mode adds an additional layer of depth to your typical team deathmatch, and forces players out of hiding in order to keep their team in the lead. Granted, it might not be for those rare players who love to snipe, but there are certainly ways around that.
The other new mode for Modern Warfare 3 is called Defender, and plays out like a combination of capture the flag and protect the VIP. Once the first kill is logged, a flag is dropped, a flag that adds points into a team’s counter dependent on who is holding it. Essentially, players must maintain control of the flag for longer than their opponents in order to win.
But these modes aren’t bound by the strict rules put in place by Infinity Ward, players can alter Defender, Kill Confirmed, or even Team Deathmatch with stipulations like no perks or no attachments. And, with the added functionality of Call of Duty Elite, players can post those custom game modes online for other players to check out.
The Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer will be a new and exciting experience for gamers that are new to the franchise and for those who have been in for the long haul.
Which of the new modes — Kill Confirmed or Defender — are you more excited about playing? How do you plan to use the match customization features?
