Call Of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Includes Survival Mode Modern Warfare 3 is going to be bringing back Spec Ops mode that was incredibly popular in Modern Warfare 2 - and with it will be coming with a number of upgrades. In addition, there will also be a new survival mode coming in MW3 - which should provide fans with a gameplay mode that scratches the same itch as Treyarch's "Zombies." The Spec Ops mode will be getting a slight overhaul with the inclusion of a progression system separate from the multiplayer ranking system, with its own matchmaking system and its own leaderboards. This means that gamers are not going to have to rely solely on their friends if they want to earn a 100% completion rating in the Spec Ops missions of Modern Warfare 3. While all the Spec Ops missions in Modern Warfare 2 took place on single player maps, the new Spec Ops survival mode will be taking place on the multiplayer maps of Modern Warfare 3. When details were first leaked regarding Modern Warfare 3's story, locations, and characters, it was also revealed that five multiplayer maps will also double as survival mode maps in Spec Ops. Those maps, allegedly, are Carbon, Dome, Radar, Seatown, and Village. Dome has officially been confirmed as one of the maps hosting survival mode - so it's possible that the leaked information is entirely accurate. Survival mode, much like similar horde modes, will feature waves of enemies who relentlessly attack you. As you progress further in the game, you will be pursued by different enemies, ranging from attack dogs to suicide bombers. Each enemy will require a different tactical approach - if you're to survive the relentless assault. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Screenshots New Details Of course, the most brutal of them all will be the juggernauts. Juggernauts are making their return in a big way - as there is going to be several different types of juggernauts this time around and will require different approaches, if gamers are going to take them down efficiently and effectively. In order to help fend-off these waves of enemies, players will be able to purchase various defensive upgrades (such as auto-turrets) but it still isn't clear how this system will work. Will it be similar to the points system in Zombies - which lets you buy better guns and upgrades to your character or will it work like Homefront's Battle Points system - accumulating points so you can use special abilities? Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games hope that the Spec Ops modes will provide gamers with a way to sharpen their skills - before they make the transition to online play. Michael Condrey, VP and Chief Operating Officer of Sledgehammer Games felt like this was an important point to make good on in Modern Warfare 3.
"We have all been challenged. There's such hard-core players out there in the online community and you hear all the stories about (youngsters) swearing and ruining the experience. With Spec Ops, you can really get in there and hone your skills in a more confined environment. I think it's a little more of an easy entry. I don't have as much time as I did when I was 20 to be honing my twitch skills, but this certainly gives me a venue to experiment."
Regardless of whether or not they succeed in transitioning players into the online space, Spec Ops should provide gamers with lots of exciting content and features that will keep them occupied - long after they're done with Modern Warfare 3's single player campaign. Are you getting goosebumps just thinking about facing-off against the juggernauts again? Are those goosebumps from excitement or fear?
