What better timing for Activision to promote their biggest game of the year than when its prime competitor – the same guys who bash CoD – is in the middle of damage control due to a little negative buzz brewing before Battlefield 3’s release. A brand new trailer for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just been unveiled and it aims to offer the most explosive action in the series to date. Does is succeed?
After last month’s Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer trailer, this latest vid, titled ‘Redemption,’ focuses on the game’s single player campaign which features a globe-spanning story and a variety of characters, new and old.
While Call of Duty takes a lot of flak for offering what seems to be similar multiplayer components with each of its latest installments, its campaigns have been wholly different from game to game and MW3 looks to be no different in that regard. Thanks to a recent leak of Modern Warfare 3’s achievements, gamers have an idea of the direction of the game’s story to go along with the story details we learned about back in May.
Watch and enjoy:
The no-gravity, crashing-airplane scene looks like something out of Inception.
It’s no surprise that Modern Warfare 3 tops the year’s holiday wishlist for gamers, coming off of several games in a row that broke sales and online play records, not too mention the first ever Call of Duty XP event which became the 2nd most watched livestream event ever. But can the game live up to the vehicle-inclusive multiplayer that Battlefield 3 is offering and can its dated game engine succeed for another year?
Just looking at the latest Battlefield 3 campaign screenshots, one can easily see the drastic difference in visuals, so MW3 will have to live off its gameplay and faster 60 FPS framerate. Either way, we love the competition and in the long run, it should benefit both series and hence, gamers. The latest news has Treyarch is working on the next Call of Duty, developing it for the next-gen and DICE is practically there thanks to the Frostbite 2 engine.
It’s a tough call which game to get this fall, so we hope to be playing – and enjoying – both.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will release November 8th for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
