First Image of New 'Modern Warfare 3' DLC Released

Modern Warfare 3 DLC First Park Image Released

As if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 wasn't already giving fans enough multiplayer content to keep busy over the holidays, a new batch is on the way in the new year. In anticipation of the upcoming launch, the developers at Infinity Ward have released a first image of just one of the new multiplayer maps in the pack. The rest of the maps are still a mystery, but urban warfare is apparently on the menu, with a dose of Humvee thrown in for good measure.

After the first details on the January DLC snuck out last month, players had plenty of time to think of what maps like 'Morning Wood,' 'Concrete' or 'Park' could mean in terms of gameplay. Now the first image of 'Park' has been released by Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, showing an urban oasis not completely unlike that of Battlefield 3's 'Operation Metro' map. That's not to say that Modern Warfare 3 is taking their cues from the competition, as the team is apparently planning to provide DLC that fans have never seen before.

Hopefully the developers will truly deliver on that promise, and we'll leave it to fans to decide if this first look at 'Park' is encouraging or not. Take a look for yourself:

The map is just one of five coming to Xbox 360 Call of Duty Elite subscribers on January 24, and considering the fact that over six million players fall into that group, the image is sure to get plenty of buzz started. So far the team behind the game has been making big promises on future updates and fixes, and so far have kept to their word.

Community playlists and a new game mode have already been added to the game's multiplayer component, with Spec Ops additions already being hinted at for January and beyond. Since Activision and Infinity Ward took the brunt of criticism for their lack of a new game engine or reinvention of the wheel, it's hard to claim the team isn't making an effort to add to the core experience. Of course, that's only if players are willing to pay for the maps when they release.

What do you think of the first look at 'Park'? Are you already on board for next month's DLC, or is a new map not exactly what you have in mind for MW3 support? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.

We'll see what else is included in the pack when it's released on January 24, 2012. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available now for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
