Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's beta testing period had a relatively limited list of firearms for players to tweak and play around with, but some users have managed to check out a whole slew of unreleased guns as well. Players have discovered a whole range of what looks like launch-day weaponry, which means that there may be plenty of variety in the full version of the game.

Namely, it looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 might have one of the most formidable weapon arsenals seen in COD yet, as the list of guns available in the beta isn't even close to complete. However, some players have managed to get into offline match lobbies where they could equip and try out a far more substantial selection of weapons than should've been available.

The most prominent examples come from Gianji90, whose post on Reddit shows off a variety of new guns, including the PP-19 Vityaz and its Bizon variant, the AK in its 103 and 105 configurations, and the Barret MRAD rifle. With that in mind, it's also worth pointing out that these designations aren't actually used in the game, as MW2 seems to use fictionalized variants of real weapons. Much like Venom Magnus's earlier weapon handling video for Modern Warfare 2, Gianji90's footage also goes over the weapons' core functions and animations that players will often see.

The video also provides further detail on how certain weapons' platform conversions might work. As was shown with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's MP5K, players will need to find specific weapon attachments to recreate certain firearm variants, and this has been underlined further with the availability of both the 103 and the 105 AK rifles.

It's not a huge stretch to imagine that Modern Warfare 2's weapon vault feature might enable even more variety in weapon customization down the line, possibly introducing highly specialized conversion kits that wouldn't be worth including as separate weapon entries. This also likely means that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have one of the most detailed firearm customization systems yet, rivaling that of games such as Escape From Tarkov.

As exciting as the weapon reveals might be for fans of modern-day Call of Duty, not everything is perfect. Modern Warfare 2's beta revealed issues that ought to be fixed ahead of the game's late October release, and Infinity Ward hasn't yet commented on all of them. Modern Warfare 2's second beta is set to begin on September 24, allowing PC and Xbox players to jump into the fray and see for themselves how the game is progressing.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
