Some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans express their frustrations at the game’s spawn mechanic in multiplayer. Modern Warfare 2 came out on October 28 and customers have likely spent a significant amount of time with the game. One fan even managed to max out all the guns in Modern Warfare 2 after playing it for over 160 hours.

Similar to the standard multiplayer modes in all Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 2 features a quick respawn system where users come back almost instantly after dying. However, this system is not perfect, and it can sometimes result in unfortunate spawns. One Modern Warfare 2 video serves as a great example of how frustrating bad spawn points can be for the player.

A user named Powerwolf787 has shared a clip featuring a series of ridiculous spawns they experienced while playing in a multiplayer match. The video is from the Al Bagra Fortress map in Modern Warfare 2, and it shows Powerwolf787 repeatedly getting spawn killed seemingly due to spawning near their teammates. The user gets no time to even finish the initial animation of checking the gun as they seemingly respawn in front of an enemy player every time. The clip ends with Powerwolf787 leaving the match out of frustration.

Other users appear sympathetic toward the player’s experience, with many stating that they too would leave the match in this situation. Many are blaming developer Infinity Ward for not having a working solution for the problem. On the other hand, some fans believe that the Call of Duty franchise has regressed in terms of map design.

A few users mention that an organized team can take advantage of the respawn system and instantly kill enemy players in Team Deathmatch, so they suggest trying out Domination or other objective-based modes. One fan recommends playing the Hardpoint game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as it looks like the likelihood of spawning in front of an enemy is lower than in other modes. However, another player claims that Al Bagra Fortress suffers from similar problems in Hardpoint as well.

Users in the comments also discuss the controversial SBMM present in Modern Warfare 2, and the factors that influence it. Some gamers claim that it makes all matches difficult when constantly matched with players of the same level, while others believe that it improves the gameplay experience of the casual user base. Many multiplayer games use a version of skill-based matchmaking in some form, so it’s probably impossible to eliminate it altogether.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
