Activision has detailed all the content coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Season 2, including maps, game modes, and weapons, but the 6v6 maps are not entirely new. Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 launches on February 15, offering a bunch of changes from the base games that came out in 2022.

As an example, the Gulag will now feature 1v1 encounters in Warzone 2, with three-plate armor vests becoming the default option for all players. Activision is also changing the rate at which bonus and ultimate perks are earned in Modern Warfare 2, making it so that players unlock these perks much faster during matches. The list of maps and game modes coming to Modern Warfare 2 has also now been confirmed, but it’s not without controversy.

As mentioned on the Call of Duty website, Modern Warfare 2 will add two 6v6 maps to the game, but neither is a brand-new level. The first map being added to the core 6v6 playlist, called Dome, has already been featured in previous Call of Duty games, with this version based around the map from 2011’s Modern Warfare 3. The second 6v6 map coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Season 2 is Valderas Museum, proving an earlier leak to be correct. For users who did not play the MW2 beta, Valderas Museum was one of the maps available during the beta period, but it was removed from the final release of the game.

So, none of these maps classify as brand-new content, as Dome is a remake and Valderas Museum was already a part of MW2 before its launch. It’ll be interesting to see if Activision has made any changes to the museum map, as some fans complained that it was too large for 6v6 gameplay during the beta event.

Modern Warfare 2 will also get two battle maps for the Ground War and Invasion game modes called Zaya Observatory and Al Malik International. In addition, Activision has confirmed that Infected, Gun Game, Grind, and Hardcore modes are all coming to Modern Warfare 2 when Season 2 launches, with Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber being added in the middle of the season.
