A recent Twitch stream has stoked the fire of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered rumors that have persisted over the last few weeks. This time it is Activision Editorial Manager Kevin Kelly who is fanning the flames, revealing that the company will be making a big announcement in March. Given the general consensus that a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster could be in the cards, it's no surprise that many like-minded gamers took his statement to be a subtle hint towards a looming reveal.

The rumors of a Modern Warfare 2 remaster have built steam ever since an accidental listing on Amazon suggested a Modern Warfare 2 remaster would release on April 30, 2018. This would be far from the first time a remaster has been leaked by a premature retail listing, and the success that Activision had with the remaster of Modern Warfare almost begs for more remasters to be made. Still, Activision has yet to confirm the existence of a Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the first place, and there's nothing concrete that says the March announcement will even be Call of Duty related.

While many Call of Duty fans have fond memories of the online experience in Modern Warfare 2, an alleged leak shared by CharlieINTEL (and corroborated by additional sources) claimed that the remaster of the popular Call of Duty title won't feature multiplayer at all. If the remaster gets confirmed as a singleplayer title, it's possible that it may come bundled with the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 4, as opposed to being a standalone purchase.

Kelly seemed to backtrack on his initial comment later on in the stream, jesting that, while he said there would be a nice announcement, it may not pertain to the Call of Duty series after all:

I did not say CoD players will be happy, about the announcement. Because it is not CoD related – or is it? [laughs]. I will say no more, you will find out very soon.

In any event, Activision has yet to confirm that a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster is even in the works, though the company's silence hasn't done much to slow the conversation and debate. With two different press outlets corroborating the story of the remaster being single player only and one retail outlet accidentally listing the remaster, there's certainly enough evidence to suggest the title is real. While it's plausible that Kevin Kelly teased a Call of Duty announcement set for March, it looks like gamers will have to wait to see if the announcement will have anything to do with the remaster at all.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered isn't confirmed, but is rumored to release on April 30, 2018, for PS4 and Xbox One.
