A viral TikTok video shows how some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans are stealing double XP codes from Mountain Dew cases. For years now, the Call of Duty franchise has featured cross-promotion deals with Mountain Dew, encouraging gamers to buy the drink with each new entry in exchange for special in-game rewards. The same holds true for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which offers two major rewards for players that redeem codes from Mountain Dew products.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players can get double XP tokens from redeeming Mountain Dew codes printed on the inside of 12-pack cases, which should go a long way in helping them earn all the killstreaks, weapons, and more that they want for their arsenal. Modern Warfare 2 Mountain Dew codes also let players get up to a total of 1,200 COD Points, the premium currency that allows players to purchase cosmetic items from the shop. Needless to say, these rewards are valuable enough that they could very well encourage some Modern Warfare 2 players to go out and buy some Mountain Dew, but it seems some fans are simply stealing the codes from the boxes instead.

As seen in a viral TikTok video uploaded by certifiedgreenspecialist, some Modern Warfare 2 fans are going to grocery stores and opening the 12-pack Mountain Dew cases to steal the codes. The video shows multiple 12-pack cases of Mountain Dew opened, though it doesn't seem as though the culprits stole any cans, just the codes. It's unclear how widespread this issue is, but the video has amassed 1.5 million views at the time of this writing. Please note that the TikTok video does have some profanity.

Unfortunately, there's not much anyone can do about this except to double-check any Mountain Dew they buy to make sure it hasn't already been opened. It should be fairly obvious as one would need to open the case and move cans around to get to the code, but it may still be frustrating for shoppers who are wanting to take advantage of the Modern Warfare 2 Mountain Dew promotion while they still can.

In the meantime, Mountain Dew isn't the only product that's hosting a cross-promotion with Modern Warfare 2. A new Jack Link's promotion rewards Modern Warfare 2 players by giving them various rewards, including a Sasquatch Operator skin. Unfortunately, there have been reports of people stealing the codes off Jack Link's packages as well, so anyone interested should keep an eye out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
