MMA fighter Michael Page just took the Pokemon GO craze to new heights as after knocking out Evangelista Santos, he pulls out a Pokeball and rolls it towards his downed opponent.

From Pokemon GO gyms located at Area 51 to players managing to assist in catching an attempted murderer, the popular augmented-reality game has quickly become part of everyday culture in the week and a half since its release. As the world currently preoccupies itself with trying to take over gyms or trying to catch that elusive Vaporeon, it seems that the app has caused everyday life to take a turn for the interesting. But while recent Pokemon GO related stories have revolved around shenanigans that range from the heartwarming to the tragically bizarre, the latest incident may have just pushed the Pokemon GO phenomenon to new heights - as well as revealing an unexpected fan of the franchise.

During the recent Bellator 158 event in London, MMA fighter Michael ‘Venom’ Page was fighting against Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos for the welterweight title. With 30 seconds left on the clock, Page managed to seal the win by knocking Santos out with a flying knee to the head. As Santos laid on the canvas, Page decided to celebrate by immediately running to his trainers and grabbing some props - specifically, a Pokeball and an Ash Ketchum cap. Proving that he was "the very best, like no one ever was", Page donned the cap before proceeding to roll that Pokeball towards his downed opponent.

Words can't describe just how bizarrely hilarious this episode played out, so check out Page's celebration in its full glory right here:

As odd as it is to say, Page's celebration is far from the only funny and weird thing that's come out of the love of Pokemon - something that this recently unemployed Pokemon GO player can attest to. With the app now available in a number of countries such as Italy, Spain, and Portugal - and with more countries still to come - everyone can expect even more Pokemon GO shenanigans to happen in the coming weeks.

Since Page decided to show his love for Pokemon while still in the ring, we're not quite sure if this counts as playing Pokemon GO while at work. Regardless, it probably goes without saying that Page's victory over Santos will definitely be remembered by both MMA and Pokemon fans in the years to come.

Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android mobile devices.
