MLB The Show remains the industry's most-popular annual baseball game franchise, not only because that's a rare niche, but more so because it's a polished baseball experience with regular meaningful improvements. Now, baseball fans are anxious to see what Sony San Diego Studio has planned for MLB The Show 21. And according to the latest plans confirmed by Sony, that's coming sooner than expected, as news about MLB The Show 21 is coming in February.

As far as announcements go, this is one of the most understated options available to Sony. A Twitter message shared recently confirmed the plan in a single short sentence. "MLB The Show 21 news coming in February," was the full statement, shared via the game franchise's official account. No further follow-up information was provided, so MLB The Show fans will just have to wait for Sony for more details.

There's really nothing to go on from previous years for comparison, unfortunately. MLB The Show 20 was announced late in 2019 and was then released on March 17, 2020. It's already 2021, obviously, so it's likely that the pandemic has forced Sony San Diego onto a delayed schedule. A March launch for MLB The Show 21 would be a surprise, to say the least. At this point, an MLB The Show 21 release at all would be welcome news.

The other interesting aspect of this is the lack of an event for Sony to reveal MLB The Show 21 at. It's possible that Sony has an unconfirmed event planned for February where MLB The Show 21 will be showcased. That may be even more exciting news than the planned MLB The Show 21 reveal. Needless to say, PlayStation fans should expect more information in the weeks to come.

MLB The Show 21 is in development.
