For many fans, MLB The Show 21 is another great baseball game to play alone or with friends. It's the first video game in the sports genre to offer crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox consoles, which means players have a wider pool of opponents than ever to compete against. But what if players think they have what it takes to win some money with their MLB The Show 21 pitching and batting skills? Well, there's a tournament coming up called the Summer Circuit competition where they can do just that.

MLB The Show 21's Summer Circuit competition is its first competitive cross-platform tournament series. It will be similar to circuits held for the previous game, MLB The Show 20, and competitors will be fighting for a variety of different prizes including money and Stubs for in-game content. Those interested in competing must build a Diamond Dynasty team in MLB The Show 21 to use in competitions. The winner of this circuit will take home a $15,000 prize, but that's not the only potential reward for successful players.

The Summer Circuit begins on July 24 with the first of three different Open Qualifier stages ahead of Finals competitions. All MLB The Show 21 players 18+ in the United States and Canada that want to play must register on Battlefy and can play on any console. Qualifiers will function as a Swiss tournament system, and those who make it through day one of a qualifier will be able to compete the following day in a single-elimination bracket. The top 64 players from the three Open Qualifiers will then compete against one another in a single-elimination format for Grand Finals.

Those lucky players that make it to the final four of the Grand Finals will play their matches on the San Diego Studio Twitch channel. There is $25,000 total in cash prizes for Grand Finals participants as well as Stubs and MLB merchandise prizes. Besides a $15,000 top prize, the winner will get a $1,000 MLB Shop digital gift card, a game-used ball from this year's Home Run Derby, and 1,050,000 Stubs for purchases in MLB The Show 21. It's likely that there will also be a Fall Circuit series for players to compete in, so competitors that come up short this summer can try again in a few months.

For most players, the success in the Summer Circuit will depend on how well they can master new features in MLB The Show 21 like pinpoint pitching. It also may be worth practicing with potential team members in other modes besides Diamond Dynasty, as MLB The Show 21's Road to the Show mode offers experience, card packs, and Stubs to unlock diamond archetypes. Players who simply want to test the waters of online competition can also enter this summer's MLB The Show 21 Exhibition Tournaments instead of the Summer Circuit series.

MLB The Show 21 is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
