MLB The Show 21 is on the horizon, and baseball fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting the game's arrival. The yearly baseball simulation from San Diego Studio is usually here by now, but new additions to the game as well as the series' first appearance on next-gen have delayed the release slightly. Regardless, a lot of fans are excited, especially those on Xbox who will be able to play the game for the very first time. Last year's version of the game has overstayed its welcome in the eyes of some regular players, making MLB The Show 21 one of the standout releases for the month of April.

The anticipation around the game is rather well-deserved, as this year's installment of The Show series seems to be making a substantial amount of improvements. Among them, pitching adjustments and the addition of a stadium creator mode are some of the most exciting, and there are a handful of other quality of life tweaks that should refine the gameplay experience. In addition to these new features, MLB The Show 21 will have a few special versions to choose from. With the game set to come out in just a few weeks, here is what players need to know about MLB The Show 21's pre-order bonuses and special editions.

Pre-Order Bonuses

As far as pre-order bonuses are concerned, they are mostly the same across all retailers and all versions of the game. For physical versions of the game pre-ordered at GameStop or Best Buy, for example, players will get access to five thousand Stubs (The Show's in-game currency) right when they load up the game. These Stubs will allow players of the highly popular Diamond Dynasty mode to build up their fantasy teams a little faster at launch. For digital versions of the game, players will receive ten The Show Packs on PS4 and Xbox One, and on next-gen they will get the exact same bonus but with the addition of five thousand Stubs.

MLB The Show 21 Editions

MLB The Show 21 Standard Edition ($59.99 PS4 and Xbox One, $69.99 PS5 and Xbox Series X)

The base version of MLB The Show 21 will be just that, the most simple version of the game with no extra frills. It can be purchased physically or digitally from most major retailers.

MLB The Show 21 Jackie Robinson Edition ($84.99)

This year's special editions of the game will be featuring baseball legend Jackie Robinson to pay tribute to the man who broke the color barrier in the MLB. This version of the game will give players a special steelbook that features Robinson, dual entitlement of the game across console generations, four days early access, and a slew of other in-game bonuses geared towards Diamond Dynasty. In addition to these treats, PlayStation will donate one dollar to the Jackie Robinson Foundation for every special edition sold in the United States.

MLB The Show 21 Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition ($99.99)

This version of the game doesn't differentiate itself too much from the previous special edition, but there is one thing that makes it a traditional inclusion for The Show fans. This slightly more expensive version of the game includes a New Era baseball cap that is decorated with the MLB The Show logo, a bonus that previous installments in the franchise have had before. Players will also get more Stubs than the cheaper version, twenty-five thousand in total, just to sweeten the deal.

MLB The Show 21 Digital Deluxe Edition ($99.99)

The digital deluxe edition of MLB The Show 21 is basically identical to the Jackie Robinson deluxe edition, except this one doesn't come with the hat. All of the same features are there though, including dual entitlement and the extra Diamond Dynasty content.

Compared to a lot of sports games on the market, MLB The Show appears to be one of the most generous in terms of pre-order bonuses and special edition offers. Now that the game is coming to Xbox and next-gen for the first time, it will be especially crucial for San Diego Studio to maintain its reputation. With how many new features are being added and how much care the developer has shown towards this year's installment, it appears that MLB The Show 21 is on a path towards success. For now, fans will just have to get their pre-orders in and patiently await launch day.
