MLB The Show 21 has been moving along nicely since it was released earlier this year. The game's first foray on next-gen consoles, and Xbox consoles after years of PlayStation exclusivity, has proven to be a big step in the franchise's evolution. With the MLB season wrapped up earlier this month and the offseason proceedings in full swing, MLB The Show 21 is likewise bringing its cycle of regular content updates to an end.

For fans of MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty mode, this means that things have finally shifted into the endgame, where gamers can build the best team possible with all of the player cards that have been made available so far. Dozens upon dozens of viable cards have been released since the game's launch, but there are a select few that are must haves for anyone looking to build a strong competitive team. While it may be hard to sift through all of the solid available choices, there are a few that are necessary additions to any Diamond Dynasty squad.

Finest Fernando Tatis Jr.

MLB The Show Fernando Tatis

One of the most recent additions to MLB The Show 21's Diamond Dynasty offerings, the Finest Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the best available infielders in the game. It's no surprise considering the player's solid 2021 season and his status as the face of The Show 21, and he has the stats to back it all up. Tatis gives Diamond Dynasty players a great mix of speed and power, and along with his shortstop positioning, he can also play second base, third base, and every outfield position without taking a big hit to his fielding stats. That amount of utility makes Finest Fernando Tatis Jr. a card that's hard to pass up.

MVP Mickey Mantle

For those that have been playing Diamond Dynasty for a long time, Mickey Mantle is consistently a necessary player to have once he's given a 99 overall card. MLB The Show 21 is no exception, as Mantle's MVP card is one of the best outfielders The Show players could possibly choose from. Similarly to Finest Tatis, Mantle has a healthy mix of speed and power, but it's Mantle's ability to cover the outfield that makes him invaluable. No matter where he's placed, MVP Mickey Mantle can cover a huge amount of ground and save almost any ball that's dropping into the outfield, which can mean the difference between losing or winning a big game.

POTM Kyle Schwarber

While a lot of the good endgame cards in MLB The Show 21 have been released over the last month, there are some cards from earlier in the year that have remained viable options. One such card is the Player of the Month Kyle Schwarber, which has had one of the biggest bats in The Show 21 since it dropped over the summer. Not only can Schwarber help The Show players hit home runs, but he has a unique secondary fielding position that makes him invaluable. In addition to his outfield position, Schwarber is able to play catcher with only a minor hit to his overall fielding attributes. This flexibility can really help players bolster their overall lineups.

MLB The Show 21 has had a pretty successful year considering the big changes it has gone through as a franchise. Features like stadium customization were received pretty well, and the support from developer San Diego Studio has been mostly satisfactory. Compared to other sports games like Madden NFL and FIFA, The Show has maintained a healthy reputation with the industry and fans alike. Now that content for The Show 21 is starting to slow down, fans are sure to look towards MLB The Show 22 and what SDS has planned for the future.
