It matters quite a bit to sports players how they're presented in officially licensed sports games, whether it be NBA games or WWE professional wrestling games. An excellent, and hilarious example, comes from MLB player Joey Gallo. Gallo's a third baseman for the Texas Rangers and, like most, he's staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gallo's been playing a lot of MLB The Show 20 for fun lately, but he has some criticism for Sony -- to say the least.

During a stream on Twitch, Gallo answers a comment in his chat that Sony "did me dirty, here," referring to his promo picture in MLB The Show 20's menus. Gallo starts by showing off two of his teammates promo art. First, Mike Minor has a great picture of him pitching with a stern-looking forward-facing photo alongside it. Next is a picture of shortstop Elvis Andrus, who Gallo says is hitting a "line drive into right field, just a single because he's got no pop." Gallo points out a good photo of Elvis' smile, too. Then comes Gallo's own picture.

Gallo's two pictures, his action photo and his face photo, are both something worth witnessing. The action shot has Gallo mid-swing, his eyes both closed and his mouth open like he's yelling. It looks like he's just struck out at the World Series, is what it looks like. Then his face photo looks like he's very confused or concerned about what's happening, his eyebrows raised and his mouth agape.

"You couldn't find one picture better?" is how Gallo describes it. "I just don't understand how my pictures got picked, and the guy said 'That's the picture. That's the one,' " is how Gallo describes how Sony's developers picked his photos. He goes on, saying, "Why in the hell did they think this would be a good picture to put for me? I just wanna know, I wanna have a talk with the guy."

Gallo is likely only half serious about his criticism of MLB The Show 20. He clearly has a good sense of humor about the situation and is just joking about taking it so seriously. But he probably also would have preferred having a great looking picture so that his teammates wouldn't give him a hard time about it. Sports games are no joke.

Gallo does bring up an interesting point. No one really knows how the team at Sony's San Diego Studio picks photos for each of the players. Someone clearly went out of their way to have fun with Gallo's photos in the game. Maybe that jokester will someday get to share their name and claim to fame.

MLB The Show 20 is available now on PS4.
