Although the official release date of Mortal Kombat 11 is still a few days off, it seems that this has been broken (presumably by a retailer who received copies ahead of launch). Because of this, someone received early access to the game and has revealed some details for the highly anticipated gory fighting title. It's worth mentioning that this information could contain MINOR SPOILERS, especially since Frost isn't on the official list of MK11 confirmed characters just yet, so those wanting to dive in fresh may elect to turn away now.

Showcasing their findings on Reddit, user Datrael revealed everything from character screens to various fatalities, though it seems these were removed quickly. One major point of interest revolves around the Mortal Kombat 11 character Frost, as it seems players will have two choices for unlocking the Lin Kuei warrior.

How to Unlock Frost

To unlock Frost, it seems as if players will need to advance through the Mortal Kombat 11 story and clear chapter four. While this is understandable and common in many fighting titles, those who are unwilling to wait can instead to choose to shell out real-world money to unlock her. As seen in the images below, choosing her in the character select screen will give players a message indicating just that.

At the time of this writing, the real world cost behind Frost is unknown. The Mortal Kombat 11 developer has previously stated there would be no loot boxes, and microtransactions would instead focus on skins, intros, easy fatalities (like in Mortal Kombat X), gear (but nothing pay-to-win), all of which will be purchased through the in-game premium currency known as Time Crystals. No price point for these minor cosmetics was established, so it's hard to say how much Frost will cost for those who want her sooner rather than later.

It is currently unknown how the Mortal Kombat 11 community will react to this reveal, nor is it certain if other characters can be unlocked in a similar manner to Frost. Those who stand firm against microtransactions of any sorts should be glad to know that they will be able to unlock Frost by completing the story, though.

Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
