Breaking away from the traditional announcement pattern for Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios cut out a lot of ample marketing time by officially announcing Mortal Kombat 11 only 5 months ago at The Game Awards 2018. While mixing both fan favorite and newer fighters, a very impressive graphics engine, and another cinematic story mode that utilizes time travel, one could argue that Mortal Kombat 11 is the most impressive game in the long-running franchise to date, and are hoping it will get even more support in the future.

While NetherRealm has yet to talk about upcoming downloadable content plans outside of MK11's Shang Tsung, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad provided a small update and revealed that the studio has years of content planned out for Mortal Kombat 11. He spoke with vague terms and didn't provide any solid details or time frames on when things may arrive, but apparently the upcoming content will keep the game going strong with new characters and outfits.

This much was confirmed at a recent event by Haddad, with the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president also stating Mortal Kombat 11 has had the biggest launch the franchise has ever seen. Without providing specific numbers, Haddad said that the game also had the largest launch in Warner Bros. Games history in the Americas. It's likely because of this fact that developers at NetherRealm feel the pressure a little more than normal to fix the current issues with Mortal Kombat 11's progression and in-game economy and fan complaints with the Towers of Time.

Even without specifics, many fans may have likely already seen the expected post-launch roster of characters for most of the planned Mortal Kombat 11 DLC. Thanks to the datamining efforts of Switch players, files were uncovered containing the names of potential add-on characters.

While the list includes classic characters like Nightwolf, Fujin, Sindel, Sheeva, and the previously mentioned Shang Tsung, it also includes a bunch of guest characters as well. This new leak specifically mentions Spawn, Terminator, Ash from Evil Dead, and an Injustice crossover with the Joker.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
