Being a successful streamer on platforms like Twitch brings with it plenty of sponsorships and avenues to network, but it also comes with a lot of scrutiny, too, as being one puts a spotlight on every choice. It is something most streamers try to be cognizant of, weighing whether certain business opportunities are worth the possible criticism it may come with them. Mizkif did just this after receiving a lucrative sponsorship offer from a Saudi Arabian organization, one that, despite his initial enthusiasm, he is now backing off of after educating himself about the region.

Mizkif was one of several streamers reportedly contacted about a lucrative Fortnite event being hosted in Saudi Arabia that would run for at least four days. Pokelawls was the first to let the reported event slip, saying he received an email about the event outlining who else was invited and the social media promotion required if participating. Tfue and Emiru, Mizkif's fellow OTK member, are said to be also participating in the event, which only excited Mizkif about the event he believed was for charity.

However, Mizkif has since backpedaled and said he no longer plans to participate in the event after educating himself about Saudi Arabia and its history. Mizkif spoke at length about the event with popular political stream HasanAbi, who touched on the country's history of human rights violations and the potential lack of transparency regarding the event. He said on stream he "didn’t know the ins and outs of it" and was admittedly ignorant about the country. "I thought it was for charity," Mizkif said multiple times on stream.

As mentioned, Saudi Arabia has faced plenty of criticism from the global community for its history of human rights violations, both domestically and abroad. The most infamous event in recent history is the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a vocal critic of the Saudi government, after he was lured into the Saudi embassy in Istanbul, Turkey. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman claimed ignorance amid a massive attempted cover-up, though the Central Intelligence Agency later confirmed Salman did order the assassination. This came amid growing global pressure to end the war in Yemen, a conflict that left thousands of civilians dead or displaced.

Upon educating himself about Saudi Arabia, Mizkif's decision should not come as a surprise to anyone who follows the streamer. He has, self-admittedly, found himself at the center of plenty of Twitch-related controversies, such as the rampant cheating on his show Schooled or relationships with other controversial streams, such as Ice Poseidon. That said, he has typically tried to avoid any sort of sponsorships or business deals that may have a negative impact on his community or overall image, something that played into his choice to turn down a potential $10 million sponsorship from a gambling site.
