Richard Tyler "Ninja" Blevins is arguably the most high-profile streamer today, having topped Twitch's streaming service while he was active there and more recently topping Mixer's as well. In fact, Ninja's inactive Twitch profile is still there and still tops the service, though technically speaking, Tfue is now the top streamer on Twitch. This is despite the fact that Tfue has effectively half the number of followers.

That's only to say that Ninja is about as high-profile as it gets in the streaming world, but there's still plenty that all viewers, albeit formerly on Twitch or currently on Mixer, may not know about him. As such, here are 5 things many do not simply know.

He Wrote a Book

In August 2019, Ninja had a gaming guide titled Get Good: My Ultimate Guide to Gaming published by Penguin Random House. It covers everything from choosing the right gear to play with and setting specific goals to basic strategies and more in the multiplayer field. For those interested in getting better at Fortnite, Apex Legends, or generally any shooter title, it may not be a bad read.

He's Going to Be in a Movie

While Ryan Reynolds is set to be the main character of the forthcoming movie, Free Guy, a movie about a video game NPC realizing that his world is a game, there are going to be plenty other appearances. The movie/game world has been described a crossover between Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite, so it shouldn't be surprising that Ninja has a role in the movie. It remains to be seen how extensive it is, but he's playing himself alongside other notable appearances including Imane "Pokimane" Anys and Lanna "LazaBeam" Eacott. Sean "Jacksepticeye" McLoughlin will also have a role in the movie, though he is portraying Q*bert as opposed to playing himself.

How He Got His Start

It's easy to say that Ninja's popularity exploded with the rise of Fortnite, having become practically synonymous with the game, yet he put in the hard work and hours long before the initial release of Fortnite. His career as a professional video gamer began after graduation from high school, where in 2009, he began playing Halo 3 professionally. His reputation began there before he moved to streaming in 2011, playing a variety of games up until the modern day Fortnite.

Appearances

Outside Mixer, Ninja has had a number of high-profile appearances. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • In 2015, Ninja's family appeared on Family Feud due to his rising popularity, lately returning in August 2019 for a episode of Celebrity Family Feud.
  • In September 2018, Ninja became the first esports player to appear on ESPN Magazine. He also appeared in the NFL's "100-Year Game" ad that aired during Super Bowl LIII. He was the only person in the commercial to not even be connected to football remotely.
  • Ninja worked with Astralwerks, a record label, to compile the Ninjawerks: Vol 1 music album, which released on December 14, 2018.
  • He participated in season of the Masked Singer, being voted out after his first performance and revealing he accepted it because his wife was a fan.

Ninja's Net Worth

Pinning down Ninja's net worth, especially after the move to Mixer, can be hard. After all, the specifics of Ninja's contract with Mixer have never been released, but despite this, most estimate Ninja's net worth to be between $10 million and $15 million dollars, compiling what he makes through various brand deals and his time dedicated to streaming.
