As with most things, the ultimate goal of Minecraft is to get to the End, but of course in this case that refers to an actual alternate dimension. In the last eleven years, one particular step always proved grueling to players trying to reach the End, but now there's a method to speed things up.

Earlier today, the Nether Update released for Minecraft, and it has revamped the entire dimension. There are now five biomes instead of one, a new structure, new enemies, and a ton of new crafting recipes as well. Surprisingly, it is one of these mobs which is helping players get to the End.

Long time fans are no doubt familiar with the Zombified Piglin enemy found throughout the Nether previously, but now players get to meet their living counterparts, the Piglin. These mobs are unique because they can be interacted with in many different ways, and the player can even trade with the Piglins.

To get to the End, players have to craft several Eyes of Ender, these are attained by combining an Ender Pearl with Blaze Powder. These Eyes of Ender are used for two purposes, opening the End Portal and finding the Stronghold itself which contains it. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of many, Enderman simply don't spawn that much, at least not when one is actively looking for them, making grinding for the Ender Pearls required to both find the Stronghold and enter The End a huge chore. This is often the most difficult part of getting to the End.

The Nether Update gives players two new ways to get Ender Pearls quick. The first, and most intuitive way, is to grind Enderman in the Nether. One of the new biomes, called the Warped Forest, is absolutely brimming with Endermen, so farming in the traditional way is most certainly best done here. There's no day/night cycle or rain to scare off the Endermen, after all. The other way players can amass large amounts of Ender Pearls is by trading with Piglins. Every time the player gives a Piglin a Gold Ingot, there is approximately a 4.73% chance that they'll receive four to eight Ender Pearls in return.

This may not seem like a very high percentage, but given the relative ease of obtaining large amounts of gold and the fact that it isn't used for hardly anything else, it is a very viable way of obtaining the Ender Pearls needed to get to the End.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
