Many would argue that the main appeal of Minecraft can be found in its Creative Mode, but a player put together a video on how players might create a stunning temple fortress to serve as their base of operations in Survival Mode. The building aspect of Mojang's legendary sandbox has been front-and-center since the beginning, with fans sharing their original designs or faithful recreations through their own Minecraft servers or downloadable worlds.

The ingenuity of Minecraft builders played a pivotal part in its success and longevity, as the community has produced awe-inspiring projects over the years such as recreating the Hogwarts experience with a fully fledged Harry Potter Minecraft adventure map. The reality is that Creative Mode makes for better building, but Survival Mode makes for better gameplay, and this temple build represents both sides of that coin in its design.

A talented Minecraft fan who goes by Charlie Custard shared his temple build on TikTok, presenting it as an easy survival base for players to have. As Charlie explains it, the temple has a dirt frame and the walls are made by combining a bucket of lava with a bucket of water. What comes next is a little bit of detailing, expanding the tower from something functional into something beautiful. The finishing touches for his Minecraft build are the fortified walls which surround the temple, and a moat roughly five blocks wide.

While it's a bit disingenuous to call it a survival base when it was built in Creative Mode, the map being available for download seems to imply that it was at least built with Survival Mode in mind. Outside its charming aesthetic, the most appealing part about this traditional Minecraft build is that it seems to be a rare marriage between function and form, allowing players to furnish the floors of the tower as they see fit while having a lavishly stylish exterior.

Though many players have come to rely on mods for making the base of their dreams, fans who enjoy building in non-modded Minecraft should keep an eye out for what Mojang has in store with Minecraft's upcoming Update 1.20. The addition of a new type of wood in bamboo opens up a plethora of options in how bamboo interacts and melds with existing wood types such as birch or acacia, while its expansion of signs and bookshelves will help players spruce up their interiors. Unfortunately, it may be a while until they see Update 1.20, as its current estimate puts the release date between June 2023 to July 2023. Until then, players will luckily have designs such Charlie's to help tide them over.

Minecraft is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One as well as legacy devices.
