Since Telltale Games closed its studio suddenly last September, the dominoes have continued to fall, from lawsuits by former developers to games becoming unavailable for purchase entirely. The latter has been confirmed to add a new victim, as another one of the defunct studio's narrative-driven adventures will soon be removed from the online market by the end of this month.

Starting on June 25th, Seasons 1 and 2 of Minecraft: Story Mode will be delisted from all online retailers. An official announcement from Mojang, the team behind the creative sim Minecraft, which the narrative-driven story is based on, urged players to make sure they not only purchase the games soon if the planned on doing so, but make sure each episode is installed before said cutoff date. If appears since Telltale is no longer in business, the license for all 13 episodes (season one has eight in total) are being revoked, meaning even if players have bought the game, they cannot redownload them if deleted.

"On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June."

Minecraft: Story Mode's ever-approaching departure adds to the list of games from the now-defunct Telltale Games which have been discontinued across various digital storefronts. On May 27th, multiple Telltale titles, such as The Wolf Among Us and Guardians of the Galaxy, were removed from Good Old Games' (GOG) distribution catalog.

Even since the beginning of the company's sudden shutdown, it was apparent some of Telltale's most acclaimed interactive stories were on life-support on the marketplace. Almost as soon as the closure process had begun, games were already being removed from Steam, signaling a haste for the company to recoup as many losses as possible following a partnership with Netflix falling through, which resulted in the sudden closure. Given the class action lawsuit Telltale is dealing with, a world were none of the studios' games are available for purchase may not be out of the realm of possibility.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Minecraft: Story Mode are available until June 25th across various platforms.
