Minecraft has become one of the most widely-recognized games in the world since its initial release in 2011. The sandbox survival game has sold over 200 million copies over the last 11 years and has cemented itself as the best-selling video game of all time. Beyond the survival-based gameplay the game was originally built on, Mojang Studios' debut game has built a reputation as an outlet for creativity with fans crafting stunning creations like a playable game of Yahtzee. Now, a newly released DLC will see the crafting game cross over with another iconic media franchise.

Minecraft has been no stranger to tie-in DLC throughout its life with the game often collaborating with major franchises. This year has already seen Minecraft release a new DLC pack based on Angry Birds, as well as an update to the Minions DLC to coincide with the release of Minions: The Rise of Gru. Past DLC packs have seen the game incorporate several other popular franchises from Sonic the Hedgehog to Star Wars. Now, Minecraft's newest crossover adventure brings players to Bikini Bottom with an official SpongeBob SquarePants DLC pack.
