Minecraft turns 10 years old this year. Since the game was first released, the developers at Mojang have continued to add many new mobs to the procedurally generated world, such as Phantoms and Iron Golems. However, perhaps one of the most recognizable creatures in Minecraft is also one of its oldest: the spider. Recently, an aunt decided to reimagine the hostile mob as an edible treat.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as MrsVoussy shared a couple of pictures of a cake she baked. According to the baker, the cake was designed to look like a spider from Minecraft. She came up with the idea after her niece wanted a spider-themed cake for her sixth birthday. Based on the pictures, the cake shared a striking resemblance with the eight-legged arachnid from the game.
The artist used dark icing to replicate the black tones of the creature. One of the highlights of the design was the inclusion of the red eyes and mouth. These features made up part of the iconic look of the spiders found in the open world of Minecraft as these red, glowing components of the design were often the first thing players noticed when approaching these dangerous creatures in the dark.
Besides showing off a couple of images of the spider cake, MrsVoussy gave fans some details about the process of making the tasty treat. According to the baker, she made the head and middle sections of the spider out of chocolate cake. She then used white cake with lime green coloring for the back part. To finish the design, she fashioned Rice Krispie Treats for the eight legs and added a layer of chocolate icing on top. Furthermore, she commented that she used Google pictures to help come up with the design.
This spider cake baked by MrsVoussy has made quite an impression with the Minecraft community on Reddit. With an impressive 11,4000 upvotes in less than a day, the consensus among gamers was that the aunt's cake achieved a remarkable resemblance to the spider from Minecraft. Many were stunned to hear that MrsVoussy claimed she was neither a baker nor a gamer, as they thought the creation looked like something made by an experienced baker. In addition, some users wondered why her niece would want a spider birthday cake. MrsVoussy responded, “I've learned not to question the weirdness of 6-year-olds.”
Beyond this creative birthday cake, many other gamers have made ingenious creations inside the world of Minecraft. Recently, one player decided to build a volcano in Minecraft in the game that could launch lava into the air. With so many biomes, mobs, and items in Minecraft, it seems that these fan creations are just the tip of the creative iceberg. It will be interesting to see what kind of creations people, such as MrsVoussy, decide to come up with in the future.
