Minecraft players are known for their creativity and ingenuity as well as the hilarious solutions they come up with. For many players, with enough time and enough Redstone, pretty much any problem in Minecraft will inevitably be solved in the wackiest way imaginable.

One player decided to add to Minecraft's hot week of creations by finding a creative way to unlock the game's "sniper duel" achievement. The achievement is very specific as it must be unlocked by using a launched arrow to kill a skeleton, wither skeleton, or a stray from 50 or more blocks away in a horizontal direction.

To achieve this, Reddit user MineralwasTaken devised an incredibly devious plan. Using a trapped skeleton, a target, a crossbow, and Redstone, MineralwasTaken managed to unlock the achievement without directly engaging in combat, once again displaying Minecraft players' ingenuity.

To execute the plan, MineralwasTaken trapped a skeleton in a hole, making it their prisoner. They then proceeded to let the skeleton shoot them before covering the hole with a target block. MineralwasTaken quickly climbs up above the target and shoots it with 3 arrows before running to the right along a line of Redstone. The Redstone lead to a switch, and when MineralwasTaken flipped it, they unlocked the achievement, implying the arrows previously shot had rained down upon the skeleton. Minecraft arrows are quite deadly, so the poor skeleton prisoner stood no chance one the switch was flipped.

The plan was executed perfectly, and some commenters congratulated MineralwasTaken on their ingenuity. However, in true Minecraft fashion, many other commenters were trying to figure out different ways the same result could be reached. One user pointed out that MineralwasTaken could have also gotten the "bullseye" achievement at the same time if they had added one more arrow and another target block. Another user said that the "easy advancement" achievement could have also been unlocked if more Redstone had been used in the mechanism. As evidenced by other incredible Minecraft Redstone creations, the material can be used to incredible effect, but in this case, MineralwasTaken's design was perfect for the task.

Regardless of better ways to unlock the achievement or ways to unlock multiple achievements at the same time, MineralwasTaken's creation was a perfectly wacky way to achieve the desired effect. Creations like these are what keep the game fresh and alive as well as inspire the community to create even better versions to satisfy their sense of progress.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
