A rather ambitious Minecraft project is currently underway by one dedicated fan who has taken it upon themselves to build a 1:1 scale blocky rendition of Las Vegas. For those who want to lose a few hours in a video game, Mojang's open-world sandbox title is the de facto choice for many fans. The game has become synonymous with near-infinite replayability and is likely the reason why it's still going strong after all these years. Fans are still coming out with some pretty interesting projects that are wowing the community.
It's possible for Minecraft players to spend literal years building things, such as the fan who decided to create their own city. With the mechanics the game affords, there is no end to the type of creative endeavors that can be actualized. That's what makes it so appealing for millions around the world, and there are always some imaginative structures and concepts coming out of the woodwork. Sometimes these builds come straight from the real world.
Reddit user BaroBuilder is just one of example of these creative types. In a recent post, they've shown a screenshot from their Minecraft project, which is a life-size replica of the Las Vegas Strip, with the image showing the High Roller observation wheel and the rest of the Strip behind it. They've also posted a brief video on YouTube which shows a time-lapse of them recreating the casino floor of the Paris Resort, as well as additional restaurants, shops, and other exterior assets. In essence, it's a pretty impressive build so far, and they have said they are hoping to upload more images and videos, especially as they are "having fun" with the project.
It's always interesting to see players doing life-size facsimiles of real structures. It's not quite as ambitious as the group that was creating a 1:1 replica of the UK in Minecraft, but it's still a very impressive feat all the same. It takes a lot of time and skill in order to finish off such a lofty piece of work, and it will be interesting to see BaroBuilder's finished reconstruction.
Minecraft is a very immersive open-world game, with so much scope and a lot of land to wander. For some, it's hard to imagine it's been going since 2011, but as long as Mojang continues to keep it updated with new ideas, and fans persist in their creative projects, the life of the game is only going to be extended indefinitely.
