There are some people out there who have practically grown up playing Minecraft. It's been on the scene since 2009, and with the Bedrock Edition getting its 1.19.20 update recently, Mojang is continuing to look after this juggernaut of a video game. The fact that it affords players the opportunity to build whatever they want gives it immense replay value, and the addition of redstone kicks things up a notch, though it's been discovered that this game's version of electricity would be deadly in the real world.

As seen by PCGamesN, a user on Reddit uploaded a screenshot from Minecraft which shows a material reducer. Inside, they've placed a redstone block, which shows that it's made up of a number of different elements. One of the interesting discoveries is that the item appears to be made of carbon, an unknown substance, and also uranium. It's this latter part that suggests redstone is actually radioactive. To some in the comments, it makes sense. One person said that it being radioactive is probably not too surprising, given how it "constantly outputs power."

There may be people who are already familiar with this piece of information. However, that's the good thing about Mojang's open-world sandbox game. Minecraft contains so many surprises and secrets, that it's possible to play for years and not discover everything about it. It's partly what keeps fans coming back for more. The ability to unleash unlimited creativity in a massive world is one thing, but powering devices with a substance that contains uranium is just the icing on the irradiated cake.

Those who play the game know that redstone is an extremely powerful item in Minecraft that can be used in the formation of so many things. People have been able to create all sorts of contraptions, from an item as simple as a switch that opens a door to something a lot more complex. Some players have even managed to create giant versions of games, such as one person who made their own interpretation of Yahtzee using redstone.

It's no wonder then that Minecraft is a game with near-infinite replayability. Despite it coming out all those years ago, there are still new players joining and older ones that continue to create in the blocky world. It's hard to imagine a time when people will move on from the game. That will indeed be a sad day for many, but for now, Minecraft is still one of the biggest things in gaming.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
