Over the last decade, Minecraft has been one of the most consistently successful IPs in modern gaming history. With the Mojang-made sandbox title reaching 600 million active players late last year, its enormous success will go down in video game history. Much of this popularity stems from the game's near-endless creativity, and the community that strives to keep building for it. Now, someone has come along to not only build something impressive, but something which can trick people into thinking it's something else.

Posting to the Minecraft subReddit recently, user Sad_Salamander1948 has posted an image from the game which shows an incredibly palatial interior. But perhaps the most interesting thing about the build is that it seems to have a mirrored floor which reflects the interior. However, upon closer inspection, and with some people confirming in the comments below the original post, it's all an optical illusion. Many in the comments have praised the user for their work, with some even adding in a few tips to make it even more impressive and accurate.

The image has been created by redesigning the build upside down to give the impression of a mirror reflection. Some in the comments have been speculating about whether or not the user implemented glass to help create the illusion, with one person saying that, because no one is certain how it's been done, it means that the builder has done a fantastic job in tricking the eye. One person even said that it looked like Minecraft with RTX on, something which was introduced to the game late last year.

The consensus is that Sad_Salamander1948 has done an amazing job with building something this intricate, and by turning it into an optical illusion at the same time. There have been so many fascinating builds, and ones that have stretched the very idea of what is possible within the game. Recently, one user managed to make a perfect circle in Minecraft, using a series of complicated tricks, all within the vanilla build of the game.

There is an astonishing amount of work that the fan base has been putting into the game. With it being so popular, it is quite surprising that there isn't a Steam version of Minecraft. With Valve's Steam Deck coming up at the end of the year, it's not hard to imagine just how much it would explode in popularity if it was announced that the open world game would be coming to the device. It could open up the game to even more creative minds in the community.

Minecraft is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
