To say that there is a lot to do in Minecraft would be underselling the idea, somewhat. As a game with near-infinite replayability, there's a reason why it's still one of the biggest releases of the last ten or so years. While it's possible to go on an adventure that's fraught with peril, many prefer to have a nice, relaxing time exploring or building their own creations. The community is full of creative individuals and teams who are dedicated to showcasing their craft and coming up with interesting ideas, including this person who decided to make something for the budding moviegoer.

In a clip uploaded to the Minecraft Subreddit recently, user Jancaplayer has managed to build their own in-game cinema. And it's not just for the aesthetics, either. In a rudimentary, yet wholly clever, way, they've managed to make their own motion picture, complete with animation and accompanying music. In the video, they can be seen sitting in the theater and activating the movie. The stage/screen then shows a character "walking" through a scene before a zombie pops up from the ground. While it's a basic movie, it's executed in an impressive way.

Upon exiting the cinema itself, the user then takes viewers for a tour around for a peek behind the curtain to see how it works. Using Minecraft's useful redstone function, Jancaplayer shows that the scenery in the film is just blocks that move around behind the actor, which utilizes pistons and, from the comfort of the seats inside, do make it look like the main character is walking through an exterior location. It's all a pretty ingenious way of making something akin to a fully-functional cinema, and naturally, many in the comments have lavished praise upon the creator.

What's even more impressive is that they built it all in the Pocket Edition of Minecraft, which is the mobile port of the game released not long after the full game came out. Building anything complex in the blocky world can be hard enough as it is, but doing so on a small touch screen device is certainly worthy of note.

And as ways to relax go, a working cinema fits in perfectly. When it comes to games that inspire mindfulness in players, Minecraft is definitely one of the most obvious examples. With plenty of fans churning out creation after creation, this decade-old title is still going strong and its popularity, mixed with its creative community, shows no signs of waning any time soon.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
