As players adventure and find ways to make themselves comfortable in the world of Minecraft, many players have made houses in some form or another. Whether fans are building structures to their heart's content in Creative mode, or looking for shelter for the night in a mode with higher stakes, there are many reasons players might seek to make a home for themselves across different maps. One player has made themself a place to stay in their most recent Hardcore Minecraft playthrough and shared a rather impressive and cozy steampunk-like build on Reddit.

Hardcore mode is a unique mode in Minecraft that acts as a sort of "hard mode" for the game's standard Survival mode. What makes Hardcore mode different is that if the player dies, the world gets deleted as a result, and all of their progress will be lost instantly. Some players and streamers have lost Hardcore playthroughs lasting thousands of days due to small, fatal mistakes. Despite that, Reddit user Thecupoftea seems to have made themself comfortable in their current world by building their own unique home.

The house is mostly made out of wooden blocks, found in one of the game's plains biomes. The house also has what looks like a sugar cane farm outside, as well as several floors to give Thecupoftea plenty of space to make the house their own. The builder describes the house as "small," but it looks rather spacious in the screenshot posted.

Some have taken to the comments to point out that without pipes, gears, and naturally steam, the house in question doesn't entirely fit the theme of being "steampunk," and seems to look more like a Minecraft treehouse. The builder has responded that despite the lack of features in that regard, the house was very much inspired by steampunk architecture, which can be seen in the way the house is built.

Some other players have compared the house to other designs like the Weasley's burrow from Harry Potter, or even something like Howl's Moving Castle from Studio Ghibli. More commentators have offered pointers to Thecupoftea on how to make his design more steampunk in nature, which may lead to a more improved version being shared later. For those who adore Thecupoftea's design, or want a steampunk Minecraft house for themselves, they could follow the comments to make their own version as they play through the new Cliffs and Caves update that's about to be released.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
