Every Minecraft player who has entered this blocky world is likely familiar with the Plains biome. These temperate grasslands were among the first added to the final version of the game's files and are arguably the most common type of biome one can encounter.

There are two variants of the Plains biome: regular Plains and Sunflower Plains, the latter of which is very similar to the former with the exception of possessing sunflowers. There are a ton of basic resources to harvest in either and they can be great places to set up one's first house, as there are few places for mobs to spawn above ground. To make the best of one's time in a Plains biome, it is recommended to take stock of what's available in these lush green fields.

The Kinds Of Grass & Trees In Plains Biomes

Plains are vast stretches of grass blocks that contain countless tufts of grass and tall grass; both of which can be broken with simple punches to possibly yield seeds. It is possible for oak trees to spawn, with a third of them being large ones and a rare few containing bee nests.

The Kinds Of Flowers In Plains Biomes

The plant life here extends to many kinds of flowers as well, with this being the only biome where tulips spawn. Furthermore, Plains are the only places where flower forests (wide patches of grass that are covered in multiple kinds of flowers) can be found.

Every Mob That Can Be Found In Plains Biomes

There are many different kinds of passive and hostile mobs that can be found in the Plains biome. This grants a lot of potential resources, and since the view distance is usually quite far thanks to the relative flatness of the terrain, one can spot interesting creatures and structures from afar. It is also worth mentioning that this is the only kind of biome where horses and donkeys can spawn.

Structures That Can Be Found In Plains Biomes

Plains Villages

Aptly named Plains Villages have a chance to spawn in Plains biomes and are composed of multiple houses formed from cobblestone and oak planks. If the player spawns near one, they can offer quick and easy food and shelter until one has enough resources to set up their own house and farms. Conversely, players can mine the village itself for its resources and steal the contents of the chests within, which is essentially ransacking the place.

The mobs that live here are villagers, cats, iron golems, livestock mobs, the rare zombie villager, as well as traders and their llamas. These citizens are peaceful and can be interacted with for trading, petting, and more.

Villages can sometimes be attacks in raids conducted by Illagers; malevolent mobs who seek to plunder the village's goods, though, will do so far more aggressively than the player will.

Pillager Outposts

These structures are home to hostile mobs; Pillagers and antagonistic iron golems. Be careful when entering these locations filled with dark oak buildings, as Pillagers armed with crossbows will continuously spawn and can attack the player from afar with deadly bolts.

However, if one is well equipped, these locations have a decent amount of loot to be plundered. Some of the rarest loot that can be found in Pillager Outposts are Bottles o' Enchanting, carrots, potatoes, enchanted books, and crossbows.
