If people want to build something within a digital world, chances are they pick Minecraft. If they want to creatively construct something in the real world using toys, they opt for something like LEGO. Of course, it's possible for both to exist in each other's plane, with Mojang's game having its own purchasable sets and LEGO having a series of video game adaptations. Then there are those instances in which the two come together as one, which is exactly what one person has managed to do.

Modder ericclot created a mod for Minecraft called "Minifig Mobs," which almost converts it into a LEGO game, in that it turns all of the animals and enemies of the world into figurines that look remarkably similar to something from the Danish toy company. The mod has been made available on CurseForge.com, and a number of images on the download page show the likes of the Creeper, Enderman, sheep, and cows with that distinctive look from a typical LEGO set, including the studs that sit atop the bricks.

For many, this would seem like a perfect blend of these two enormous franchises, and in fact, this isn't the first time something like this has come about. At the beginning of this year, another modder uploaded a texture pack that turned Minecraft into a LEGO game. Known as "Brickcraft," the mod does exactly what most would expect, which is something that fans of both have likely been after this whole time. It needs to be said that while ericclot's mod only changes the mobs of the game, it's still an intriguing mix of both the open-world sandbox title and the ubiquitous brick-based toy.

As a video game that players can sink hundreds of hours into, Minecraft is the ultimate rags-to-riches story when it comes to game development. Starting life as an independent title created by one person, it has since ballooned into one of the most successful IPs on the current market, and it isn't showing signs of slowing down any time soon.

For that reason, it's hardly surprising that Minecraft has become one of the highest grossing video games of the last decade, if not of all time. Of course, LEGO itself is one of the most successful toys of all time, so the opportunity to see the two come together under one metaphorical roof has been an inevitability. For many fans, playing LEGO and Minecraft in one sitting is going to be quite appealing.

Minecraft is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
