Mob voting in Minecraft has become a highly anticipated staple of community interaction, happening on a fairly consistently annual basis and allowing fans of the title to voice their opinions and directly influence what exciting new mobs are added to the massively successful title. The mobs for 2022's vote are now all officially known, being called the Sniffer, Rascal, and Tuff Golem.

The results of Minecraft's 2022 mob vote will be ceremoniously revealed at this year's Minecraft Live on October 15, with the vote opening 24-hours beforehand across the Minecraft official website, a Bedrock server of the game, and through the Minecraft launcher. As always, each of these three potential new mobs have received their own videos explaining the unique intricacies of each mob, with each of them vying for the top spot and subsequent inclusion in the game.

The Past Winners of Minecraft Mob Votes

The first Minecraft mob vote was held all the way back in 2017, with fan reception behind the concept being so positive that it has now become a core feature of community spirit and fan interaction for the longstanding sandbox title. This 2017 vote contained a slew of much darker and sinister looking potential mobs, with the now well-known Phantom mob coming out on top. The Phantom will spawn and attack players at night if they have not slept for three in-game days, providing a serious impetus for players to keep track of time.

Following this, a Minecraft mob vote was not held until 2020, with the selection of mobs for this particular year being of a much more light-hearted and cute nature. The mob winner of 2020 was the Glow Squid, a Squid variant that can spawn in underground pools, dropping glowing ink sacs upon death which can be used for crafting. 2021's mob vote saw the introduction of the Allay, a wisp-like passive mob that can deliver items to the player in exchange for treats.

Minecraft Mob Vote 2022: The Sniffer

The first revealed mob for Minecraft's 2022 mob vote is the Sniffer. The Sniffer will be another passive mob, which can be hatched from Sniffer Eggs that can be found in Underwater Ruin structures, should the mob win the 2022 vote.

Once hatched, the Sniffer will be able to locate ancient seeds, adding to the lore of Minecraft by seemingly being an ancient organism that has been lying dormant for some time. These ancient seeds can then be used to grow brand-new types of plants, the specifics and utility of which have not yet been revealed.

Given the cute nature of the Sniffer and the interesting way in which it must be hatched, the new mob is a clear contender for this year's vote. When also considering the subset communities within Minecraft's fan base that loves the horticultural aspect of the game, the Sniffer could very well be a favorite.

Minecraft Mob Vote 2022: The Rascal

The Rascal mob was the second to be revealed for this year's upcoming Minecraft mob vote. This particular mob is set to provide a fascinating twist to mining and cave exploration within Minecraft, only being found in underground areas below the y=0 coordinate.

When near a Rascal underground, it will produce sounds as a way of hinting its location to the player, somewhat reminiscent of a game of Marco Polo or hide and seek. The Rascal will move to a different location upon being found, and will reward the player with a potentially valuable random item upon being located three times.

While Minecraft's underground content was significantly bolstered with the addition of the recent Caves and Cliffs update, additional content to the mining and underground exploration facets of the title's gameplay are always a vocal desire of the fan base. Given the humorous and mischievous nature of this potential mob and how it could serve to add an extra element to exploration, it is clear as to why so many fans are deeply interested in the Rascal.

Minecraft Mob Vote 2022: The Tuff Golem

The final mob to be revealed for the 2022 Minecraft mob vote is known as the Tuff Golem. Perhaps the most unique of the three mobs in contention for this year's vote, the Tuff Golem will have to be crafted by the player by placing a certain assortment of blocks, much in the same vein as how a player would build an Iron Golem in Minecraft.

Upon being built, the Tuff Golem will use the block it is standing on as an anchor point, periodically sleeping in this spot and waking up to wander around the immediate vicinity of its spawn point. If made with a certain block of colored wool, the Tuff Golem will also spawn wearing a cape of that corresponding color. The purpose of the Tuff Golem is to act like a form of living art exhibition, being able to wear or carry any item of a player's choice, providing a unique way for players to showcase their most treasured finds. It is unknown what size the Tuff Golem will be, but it is likely that they will be smaller than its iron counterpart.

The Minecraft mob votes often offer fans a difficult choice between equally-interesting mobs, and 2022's vote is no different. With each mob offering a wholly unique role and covering dramatically different aspects of Minecraft's expansive gameplay formula, it is very hard to ascertain which mob will come out on top. That being said, fans will be able to know who is victorious out of the Sniffer, Rascal, and Tuff Golem at Minecraft Live on October 15.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
