In a trailer posted online, Minecraft has revealed a new crossover with Mega Man X. With Minecraft's many crossovers, the game continues to bring in new players from across the gaming spectrum.

After Minecraft's release in 2011, the game has been kept alive by the fan community's passion for the game, and the modding community's dedication to adding new custom content to the game. But special credit must also go to Mojang, with the company continuously releasing official new content for the game to keep players interested and engaged. Mojang has done so not just through paid DLC, but through free updates that continuously add new things for players to see and do. Minecraft's upcoming 1.20 update promises to be the one of the biggest yet, with new mobs, new biomes, and the addition of archeology all coming to the game.

The Minecraft and Mega Man X crossover has come out of nowhere, with Mojang announcing that there'll be no wait for the DLC pack – it's available immediately for purchase. The trailer posted by Minecraft shows off what players can expect if they pick up the crossover, featuring the original Mega Man X soundtrack in-game, 14 classic skins, and recreations of iconic levels from the series featuring boss battles. Most recently, Minecraft crossed over with Avatar: The Last Airbender, releasing a number of skins from the series into the game. These crossovers are happening frequently, with one usually releasing every few months. While fans aren't sure what Mojang has planned next, there's sure to be more on the way.

In the past, Minecraft has been known for its extremely creative crossovers that have added entirely new ways to play the game. They've proven so popular that fans have even begun to speculate on what crossover they think should come next. Last year, one fan even created a concept for a Minecraft and Breaking Bad crossover pack. While this is unlikely to come to fruition, it's interesting to see how fans have different ideas for what the game should be.

With this crossover announced and released in an instant, fans will be looking to the future to see what's next for Minecraft. The franchise is in a good place right now. The previous reliance on spinoffs such as Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Story Mode to keep the game active is long gone, with the new content releases proving enough to keep players engaged. At the moment, Microsoft seems content to let its investment continue to operate as normal, without forcing Mojang to push out a sequel. As long as the fans are still happy, long may it continue.

Minecraft is available on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy devices.
