A Minecraft fan has seen it fit to get into the holiday spirit by recreating the music from Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," probably one of the most played songs at this time of year. With the Mojang title having near-infinite replay value with endless creativity, plus being a video game that has low PC requirements, it's no wonder the open-world sandbox IP has become one of the most successful releases in history, with players continuing to show off their projects and ideas.
While it's often considered a video game that's more for children, adults from all over the planet also continue to revel in Minecraft's world, using its powerful gameplay mechanics to construct whatever the imagination can come up with. Although it launched way back in 2011, or 2009 for those counting the alpha build, there doesn't seem to be any stopping the blocky juggernaut, and it certainly doesn't seem to get in the way of the festive period, either.
TikTok user Twi Shorts recently uploaded a video of themselves playing Minecraft, although they aren't playing the game in any traditional sense. Rather, they are recreating "All I Want For Christmas is You," the smash hit from Mariah Carey that often signals the start of the holiday season for many but is often a source of despair for retail workers who have to endlessly listen to it for weeks. While the track plays over the clip, the user makes the notes from the song using a variety of the game's assets, including the spawning of chickens, the noise sheep make when punched, a bell, the sound Ender pearls make when they are put into the Ender portal, and yes, even an actual note block.
The result is a pretty amusing rendition of the song, with Twi Shorts perfectly capturing the melody of the original Mariah Carey release. Music and the Mojang game don't often come together, so it's quite something when a fan turns to their more musical side for a creative outlet. Recently, one other player managed to recreate the album cover for Metallica's Master of Puppets in Minecraft, so there is definitely more scope for the worlds of music and gaming to come together.
Being one of the most successful indie games ever, Minecraft feels like more than just something that belongs to gamers. Its impact on the industry and pop culture in general cannot be understated, and many are still engrossed in the game to this day.
