Mojang's next installment in the Minecraft IP, Minecraft Legends, just had its release date confirmed at the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Director showcase. Minecraft Legends was first announced in 2022 at Minecraft Live. The game was revealed in a brief teaser, but it was clear that this is a very different game for the franchise.

Minecraft Legends is classified as an action-strategy game, where instead of the traditional gathering of resources, players are gathering allies and mobs to fight with. During Minecraft Live 2022, the developers showcased what Minecraft Legends has to offer, and some fans are very excited about the title. The game is extremely unique and something entirely new for the Minecraft fandom, with never-before-seen mobs, abilities, and items for players to use.

Minecraft Legends is slated for a release date of April 18. The release date was announced after the developers showcased what the highly-anticipated PVP mode will look like for the players. The showcase also demonstrated how the base buildings in the game work and operate depending on how players have chosen to set up in the PVP mode. With the way Minecraft Legends is approaching multiplayer, it seems ideal for some of the player base to go into the game with friends.

That was all that was revealed about Minecraft Legends at the Xbox and Bethesda presentations. However, the showcase as a whole was extremely promising for the future of both of these companies, as many of the games looked fantastic. Redfall had its release date officially revealed at the event. Furthermore, the upcoming Forza Motorsport was shown off, and a huge new update for The Elder Scrolls Online was announced, which is going to bring a new chapter to the game along with many more new additions for the player base.

The reveal of PVP and the confirmed release date for Minecraft Legends have some fans very excited about the upcoming game. However, there are still many features fans are unsure about. The developers have stated that Wither will be the main boss in Minecraft Legends, but some fans are unsure how that fits in with the game. Other concerns are generally about the fact that some fans are hoping that the building and resource gathering isn't too tedious, otherwise it could ruin the enjoyment of what looks like a great game.

Overall, from what has been showcased about Minecraft Legends, it's clear that this is something fans are excited about, and for good reason. The game is not only a unique and interesting take on the Minecraft series and RTS genre, but it also offers up a chance to provide lore for mobs and the world of Minecraft.

Minecraft Legends releases on April 18 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
