Over the years, Minecraft has maintained its longevity as one of the most popular and accessible video games ever created. Originally released as a public alpha build in 2009, Minecraft wouldn't officially be released as a proper game until 2011. Since that time, the game has accrued widespread critical success and is beloved by many in the gaming community. Now, its newest expansion will transport players to a world inspired by one of the most treasured film franchises of all time.

Players have been creating numerous wonders within the world of Minecraft since the public alpha first released, and, the creations have only gotten bigger and bigger as the years have gone on. In fact, one meticulous player made a playable version of Minecraft within Minecraft itself. Along with player creations, the Mojang has also released official DLC for the game.

There has been an extremely large variety of DLC expansions for the game released over the years, ranging from character skins to additional content. One of the most recent DLC expansions involved Pac-Man DLC exclusively for the Nintendo SwitchHowever, the latest DLC expansion will transport players to the world of Jurassic Park.

This newest DLC expansion lets players revisit iconic moments from Jurassic Park, go on expeditions, build custom exhibits, and manage the entirety of Jurassic World. The expansion also features sixty of the most iconic dinosaurs and over twenty character skins from all five films. This will certainly give players plenty to do and create.

It's nice to see that the original Minecraft is still receiving new content for players to enjoy. For how many spin-off games, mods, player creations, and other fan-made content created within the main game, it's almost surprising that Mojang still produces additional content for the main game. The amount of content included within the various Minecraft updates over every version of the game is also incredible.

This latest DLC expansion will be sure to keep players busy, but it begs to question of what kind other licensed IPs could Minecraft utilize as part of other DLC expansions. There previously was Fallout themed DLC for Minecraft, but if this Jurassic Park DLC expansion is any indication, newer DLC installments could include grander ideas, new character skins, and brand new creatures and monsters for players to interact with. Only time will tell if Mojang Studios will follow through on any other DLC expansions.

Minecraft is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
