When most people think of Minecraft and dragons, they usually think of the infamous Ender Dragon. However, this isn't the case with the game's latest DLC. The hit adventure game Minecraft has frequently added DLC packs for various other franchises, from Fallout to Mass Effect. Usually, these DLCs will add a number of skins for the player to use, as well as recreate the world of the franchises with a surprising amount of detail.

Their latest DLC comes in the form of How to Train Your Dragon, the hit film series from Dreamworks Animation. The DLC is perfect for any fan of the franchise, adding in dragon riding and themed quests, alongside the usual added skins and detailed world. This new add-on is actually currently available for the Bedrock edition of the game and can be purchased for $10 or 1340 minecoins. Though with a ton of added features, the How to Train Your Dragon DLC seems like a must-download.

5 Skins

It's now easier than ever for players to cosplay as their favorite How to Train Your Dragon characters. Like most other Minecraft add-ons, the How to Train Your Dragon DLC includes numerous skins to try on from the Dreamworks movies. There are a total of 24 new skins added to the game, including many of the most memorable characters from the series.

With the new skins, players can explore the island of Berk as any of the favorite characters from the How to Train Your Dragon movies, such as Hiccup or Astrid. As a bonus, Hiccup's peg leg is also added as a free character creator item. Now players can sport a nice Viking peg leg regardless of whether or not they are playing the game as Hiccup.

4 Locations

Various dragons surround Berk in the How to Train Your Dragon Minecraft DLC

For How to Train Your Dragon fans who've always wanted to visit Berk, this may be what they've waited for. The Minecraft DLC also recreates several key locations from the franchise, allowing players to freely explore the island of Berk. Along with Berk, players will also be able to explore the islands of the Barbaric Archipelago from the series. Fictional worlds recreated in Minecraft are often large and filled with excruciating detail, and this new DLC will likely be no different.

If the screenshots and trailer for the DLC are anything to go by, the game world will be quite beautiful while retaining the classic blocky Minecraft aesthetic players know and love. As per usual with many other franchise-oriented DLCs for Minecraft, fans can expect many secrets and easter eggs hidden throughout the world as clever call-backs to the film series.

3 Texture Pack

Tired of the same old look of Minecraft? Fortunately, many of the DLC packs will include fitting texture packs that change the look of nearly every block and item in the game. Along with the rest of the DLC, How to Train Your Dragon is the latest to receive the texture pack treatment. This pack adds in new looks for nearly every block in the game, from grass to cobblestone.

The texture pack also changes the look of many non-block items. Clouds now look much more stylized than the traditional Minecraft ones, and players may notice their health and status bar looking quite different. All-in-all, changing the look of Minecraft to fit a Viking world is perfect for players looking to fully immerse themselves into Dreamworks' dragon-filled world.

2 Dragon Riding

Probably one of the most exciting things about the How to Train Your Dragon DLC is the fact that it not only includes many of the iconic dragons from the series but that players will also be given the opportunity to ride said dragons.

Dragons will be littered throughout the world, and just like with many other Minecraft creatures, players who find them can tame them. Like horses, players can then ride their tamed dragons throughout the game world. Most areas of the map can be reached on foot or by dragon flight, but most fans of the series probably would choose the latter.

1 Quests

Part of the joy of Minecraft is the ability for players to craft their own adventure. But for those who are maybe seeking a little bit more of a clear objective in their games, the How to Train Your Dragon DLC has them covered. Players can take on quests littered throughout the world, often teaming with characters from the movies such as Hiccup or Astrid.

Quests can be a simple as learning how to train every kind of dragon or as complex as finding and releasing captured dragons from around the world. Some quests can even involve dragon racing competitions, not unlike the opening of How to Train Your Dragon 2.
