As one of the most important blocks to craft if one decides to explore beyond the area of their spawn point, Beds provide players a way to select a designated area as their resting place; their home. Making one of these crucial items isn't too difficult, but will require a bit of luck to find some of the components.

Minecraft players can also customize their bed to suit whatever interior design that they've chosen for their bedroom, thanks to being able to dye beds different colors, or even strip the current color with Bleach for a new look once in a while.

What Is Need To Craft A Bed

Players will need 3 Wooden Planks and 3 blocks of Wool to create a bed, which will require the use of a Crafting Table as the recipe is 3 slots wide.

The Crafting Recipe For A Bed

On a Crafting Table, place any kind of Wooden Planks, even different kinds, along the bottom row to fill up all 3 slots. Then, place a block of Wool over each Wooden Plank, though, the recipe will only work if all 3 pieces of Wool are the same color.

Where To Get Wool

While Wooden Planks can be easily gathered from Wood blocks that drop from trees that are cut down, Wool will be a bit trickier to come across. Most will already know that sheep are a reliable source of Wool, as these passive mobs are guaranteed to drop at least 1 Wool block upon being slain (or more if sheared), however, this means that it can take up to 3 sheep for the player to find enough Wool for a bed. Sheep are not that rare, but players can get unlucky with spawns or be unable to find these fluffy creatures due to being in an unsuitable biome.

Players can also find Wool blocks as structural parts of certain naturally-spawning buildings, such as Woodland Mansions, Villages, and Pillager Outposts. Various colored Wool blocks can be spotted as decoration or parts of buildings and can be taken without upsetting the inhabitants. It is also possible to find Wool blocks as loot in Chests as well, so be sure to check all such containers that one finds.

Furthermore, players can make their own Wool blocks if they have enough String. On a Crafting Table, or in one's inventory crafting section, arrange 4 pieces of String into a square to make a block of Wool.

Using A Bed Normally

Players can interact with Beds only at night or during thunderstorms, though, when used, will advance the game's time to the next morning.

Using A Bed In The Nether Or The End

While is it possible to place a Bed in dimensions other than the Overworld, players should never try to sleep in the Nether or the End, as doing so will cause a massive explosion to occur that can cause greater destruction than a block of TNT. For some reason, however, Villagers can sleep in other dimensions without any issues if they somehow cross through a portal.
